Calderon's contract structure?

Does anyone think that BC will structure Jose's contract to allow to spend a little extra money this summer and next summer. In other words back load the contract.I think it's highly probable!

Possibly something like 4 years/32million

1st year/6million
2nd year/7million
3rd year/9million
4th year/10million

I doubt it.

We're already over the cap, so all we have is the MLE and the veteran minumum anyway.

I was thinking the same thing - but I'm not sure what's more important, to have a few more bucks this summer, or to save for 2010. Probably it depends on what's available right now, if we can get a significant upgrade at SF, he might try this trick. But I'm afraid that unless we get rid of Joey and/or KH, we'll have very little money to spend. Right now I think we will have to fill the rest of our roster with D-Leaguers, unless they make a business decision to go over the luxury tax.

I'm not sure how the luxury tax works?What happens if they go over the cap?

A team may not re-sign or acquire said player until the length of the terminated contract.

Can someone let me in on what MLE is again? I remember knowing what it was like no more than a month ago but I just forgot part of what it is. Can someone just refresh my memory please?

There was about a two week window in the summer of 2005 for teams to do this. It's no longer applicable.

Toronto used it on Alonzo.
