Exclamation Calderon Update: Questionable for Sunday's game

Could this injury be related to the one suffered in China ? Any results from the MRI ?

Contrary to popular beleif, the hamstring is not connected to the groin.

However, in my case, the ankle bone is.

i don't think so. Just looked up the olympic injury to refresh my memory and the Star had it as a problem with his abductor/groin. The new injury is his hamstring.

It's probably just a strain and (i assume) he'll play on Sunday. I know i read that he wants to play on sunday.

Jose Calderon, the sparkplug point guard for the Toronto Raptors, has been diagnosed with a mild strain of his right hamstring and has been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Miami Heat.

Calderon had an MRI on his leg yesterday where the injury was revealed.

At practice here this afternoon at the Air Canada Centre the Raptors listed Calderon's status as day to day. Should Calderon be unavailable to play on Sunday, the Raptors will likely start backup Will Solomon in his place.
there ya go.

i don't know about that.

Roko and specifically Soloman have something to prove. don't be surprised if he does pretty well out there. Solomon HAS experience - he's just gotta tighten up.

Parker had a massively off night against philly - i don't expect him to go so cold again. I'm hoping Mitchell tore a strip off of Moon - he should perform better as well.

Miami ain't that hot. They're a one (and a half) trick pony (Marion = half). We're still a far better "team" than them.

I don't know fancy .... Beasley's looked pretty darn good so far too. I wouldn't take them lightly especially considering how horrendous our perimeter defense is and Wade can take over a game all by himself.

I hope he doesn't play I mean seriously he is already showing signs of wear. If he tears that hamstring this team is in serious trouble and I doubt could handle a major injury of any kind to Jose. You have to look at the big picture. It is sad for folks that only get to a few games to miss out on seeing players. I am sure it happened to me a few times in the Vince Carter era. Those are the breaks unfortunately.

they can still win without jose, they just need the bigs to play well, AP and kapono have to show up and moon has to defend well, which is kind of asking a lot
basically jose provides consistent and steady play at the point, meaning a good shot and ball distribution
without jose we can just simplify the offense with less pick and roll and more dump ins to the bigs and let them work it or kick out for 3s
jose's defense has never really been good so putting someone like solomon in won't really affect the defense, it just affects the offensive efficiency, but solomon can still hit the jumper if the bigs kick it out to him open, and he might actually be an upgrade to jose on the defensive end
but AP and moon really has to show up consistent, they need to defend beasley and marion, for all we know marion might not even play, he hasn't in like 2 or 3 of their games

If he isn't able to play Sunday, the raps will certainly miss his basketball IQ and ability to handle the rock. I think we had something like 8 TO's in 8 minutes last game when jose went down. Yikes!

Jose has released a statement on his website stating that after further tests earlier today showed that the injury is not as serious as first thought. He hopes to be back for Sunday, if not then Tuesday vs Orlando. He says he was relieved to get that news today.

The Raps would still a little chance in winning. Who will the Raps start??? Will they go with the big three and AP and Moon. Or with Solomon filling in for Caldy????

I think Jose is a fighter, he did try to come back and play, which is more than most of the nba players would do especially the one we won't mention here! unless he is bed-ridden with 2 broken legs, i suspect he will be in there! I would love to see Anthony Parker take some time at the 1 spot as he won't be able to stop Dwyane Wade, might as well try to make him useful.

if it's strained, he may play, if it's torn, he could be out 4-6 weeks.

It's been revealed to be a slight strain.

unfortunately there is something wrong with his hamstring, fortunately its a strain and not a tear, unfortunately that still leaves him a question for sunday and more unfortunate is that marion came back to play for the heat tonight so that means he'll be playing us on sunday
