He said two things that i thought were very telling. wants to be the most profesional player in the NBA whether he's on the floor or not. For me it just sounds like he's saying that while i'm here start or not i'll be a professional about it until i'm either moved or become a FA. Then again, that's just me and wishful thinking.
I said if he was willing to come off the bench. I don't all of a sudden love him because of his triple double. He's arguably the best back-up point guard in the NBA. If he's willing to take a role on the bench for 2 years at 10-12 million, I'll bring him back. Does that mean he remains with us for the next 2 years? No. It means we now have a trade asset that looks a lot more attractive and easier to move given the amount of money he's getting paid. If he wants to explore free agency, we try to get at least an expiring and a first rounder.

Must be somewhat painful for Jose haters to see him pull one win after another

Jose is capable... for the last three years, he's had a sub-average SG beside him still learning the game, a perpetually non-existent, small forward assortment of crap, a PF that is much like himself in that his strengths lie on the offensive side but struggles to defend at more than an average level, and a variety of mediocre centers from Aaron Gray to an aging Rasho Nesterovic.

Geezuz, it's like people on here still think Jamario Moon got a bad deal here.
It's true, you put Jose in Miami, or LA, or any team that has a star and you know that team would be deadly

but we shouldn't be in any rush to move him.. , we already have are explosive guard who can defend and score in Lowry, it's a luxury to have the both of them.

our pg is our strong position, we need a sf, for many years now...

Honestly... reading this thread and watching how well our team is playing right now is actually depressing me. When we sucked I felt like we had a plan (ditch Bargs, trade Jose and maybe Kleiza and then get healthy and see what happens). Now.... I'm just confused.

If Jose really wants to stay do we still deal him? What if he wants the starting job? What will that do to Lowry? Are we willing to let Lowry walk in the hopes that Jose can keep this up for the next 4-5 seasons? What happens now when Fields comes back considering how well AA and Kleiza have played? Will ANY team take Bargs now that he's injured?

Ugh. My head hurts.

If we let Lowry walk then we just waited our 1st rounder on him, unless we make the playoffs. But we seriously need to solidify our SF position more than anything, or well just always end up always getting these rentals (Butler, Pietris, Johnson, Mcguire, Wright and etc.) A trade with Lowry or Calderon could make that happen. Kleiza has always been a really streaky player since his 1st day with the Raptors so its no surprise there will be days he plays well and then hes ice cold the next few. We should send Fields to the dleague for rehab and practice there (just like how knicks are doing that with stoudamire)

Prediction: This will be fucked up and the wrong decisions will be made. Just a hunch.

I would do that too TBH. Let him test out the arm and build some confidence again.

My biggest worry right now is that we'll trade Jose... and then Lowry will come back... we'll lose a couple of games... and guys will lose faith in him.

It's in Kyle's hands though... I hope that he's watching and learning from the sidelines and can bring the same confidence and cohesiveness when he's 100% again.

My biggest worry, we keep Calderon and re-sign him in the summer to a 3yr contract and Lowry is dealt. A year from now when he has nobody challenging him he's back to looking average and Lowry is somewhere else lighting things up while having a clear cut number one role. I stick to my opinion that Lowry is the more talented player by quite a bit and long term is what this team needs. Colangelo has been talking about replacing Jose for a couple years now and now is his chance and imo he'll fuck it up and the treadmill will continue as it has at that position for years now. This city is known for giving up very quickly on new players and wanting to stick with mediocre players that have been here longer and overrating them, not because they've done a whole lot but because it's what's familiar (ie: Fields, Lowry)

Also, remember they have good work ethic, are coach-able, are good guys and like the city - even more of a reason to hand out money

I am confused on what direction the Raptors should go moving forward also. Probably once Lowry gets healthy the way Jose is playing his trade value should be higher then Lowrys so maybe the Raptors should trade Jose at that point, but I don't know.

I was going to say it's Colangelo's job to figure it out, but yeah. The problem is that he's likely here for the rest of this season, and it would be nice if it did get figured out. Otherwise we stand to lose out one way or another. Surely he can clean up the mess to some degree.

We'll just have to wait and see regarding Jose vs Lowry. As I said they really complement each other; what one has the other doesn't. I'd love to keep them both, but as has been discussed there are issues with that.

We are all impatient to figure this one out but there's no way to do that for a while. Let's see if Jose can keep up and what Lowry can do once he's fully healed (not including the first few warm-up games). But so far I really enjoy watching Jose lead the team.
