Default Calderon / Jack Combo

I know this always comes up in conversation but I couldn't find a thread for it so hear we go.

First off, I have to say I hate it when Jack and Jose is on the floor together. I find it very redundant and have no use for it. We have Dero, Weems, Belli, Wright and Hedo at the wings and basically their is MORE than enough players to fill up the burn in those areas. End of story I could go in more depth but I'll just let conversation take over.

Personally, I really think Triano uses this combo just to make Jack happy and get him his 30minutes or so of burn every night. I don't personally think its right but really I think its the main reason.

So discuss as you will.

The most idiotic aspect of Triano using them in the backcourt to finish games is that he rarely uses them together at any other point during the game.

Jay should find a match up where he can use that combo earlier in the game. See if they can get some flow going together before forcing it upon them in the later moments of the game.

My take on it is that Jay doesn't have the balls to decide which one he wants to use at the end of games so he goes with both. You don't see it over the course of games, it's nowhere near our most effective lineup, what the fuck is the point?

Not only is three ball handlers is redundant and just plain stupid but the lineup with Jose/Jack is a significant defensive downgrade from our starting lineup. Sure Jack is a good defender at PG but he's made much less effective when he has to guard taller, more athletic SGs.

I hope DeRozan impresses the coaching staff enough by the end of the year to force himself into the fourth quarter lineup and put the pressure on Triano to make a call between Jose and Jack.

Just based on +/- and also his free throw shooting percentages, Belinelli should finish games for us.

I think there are times where both can guys can be on the floor at the same time, its a game of match ups. I think that Jay plays them together because he has to get Jack his minutes. It started right at the begginning of the season when Jack was struggling. Jose was out playing Jack so where does Jack get his minutes ....at the 2 spot. Again last night Jose is out playing Jack. Jose takes the team on a big run which in turn was enough to hold off the Magic. We struggled last night when both were on at the same time and the funny part about the end was Joses d was better then Jack but Jose was used just for offence and rightfully so it was his first game back.

The team responded very well with Jose back in the line up..it looked like he nevered missed any time.

I just don't get it, man...

Hedo's brought in to be that guy in the fourth, so the fourth quarter lineup should compliment that game plan. What's the rationale behind three ballhandlers when you're giving one guy the ball?

I have to agree. Triano has no balls to tell one that he is better than the other. So he gives Jack some 2guard minutes so there is no bickering in the locker room.

Its such a Mister Rogers way of handling situations.

I agree. Stick with what has worked in the last 10 games or so, which is Jack, Hedo and Beli/Weems/Wright (or DD, just not another pg lol).

Last night the fourth quarter was a disaster despite the win.

I don't buy the reasoning behind the Jose+JJ combo. Triano says he uses it because it gives them more ball passing ability?? Last time I checked Beli or Hedo could do that pretty well already.

and it is very clear that Jack is playing badly when Caldy is on the floor... but when Caldy is out , he plays much better...

last night i'd prefer Banks in the fourth , playing with Belli and Hedo...

This is a concept that we can't avoid, we are subconsciously aware that this lineup will come up again in fourth quarters. JT says he likes having ball handlers in the fourth, we just gotta hope jack hits his shots....or he could just put out belli

Yeah we're lucky that Reddick couldn't make the 3 in the last minute of the game. When they play together they couldn't share their men.Jack plays with Hedo much better because he doesn't have to set plays then,Hedo make it.When Caldy is on the floor, noone knows what to do because Calderon wants to set the game and he makes nearly always the same.He waits till the last 10 seconds, then he penetrates inside and send a pass to Bosh(his favorite) or Bargs in the last 5 seconds.Noone had time to play then they need to shoot. That worked for Orlando which has a bad defence like us,but I don't think we'd win like this play.Triano must find a solution(which I don't believe) for this dilemma.

Somebody should go into Jays locker get his playbook and burn the page where it says to play these two together. They have never done good together. In the 4th quarter last night we sucked with both of them on

Word I agree Jack isn't as comfortable with Jose on the floor.

I said the other day that Banks might be the best suited when Hedo is on the floor. Maybe that's the answer. Put Banks in there to finish games, and screw the combo. You'd raise Bank's value. It'd be fun to see that tried. It won't happen of course.

SVG knows how to play aganist to Jays' combo... and it is not an secret for NBA coaches... penetrate aganist worst defender guards (jack and jose) and pass out to the helpers' side... we got no chance with this combo!
