Raptors Calderon on his future, trade rumors

Quote:
Jose Calderon has been a subject of trade discussions for several seasons and the clock is ticking on a potential trade from the Toronto Raptors with the point guard having an expiring contract.

“Maybe it’s going to be more than usual,” Calderon told RealGM. “It’s been usual for a while now for a few years.”

According to Calderon, his agent has not spoken with him about any potential deals to this point.

“I prefer not to,” said Calderon. “Unless if there is something he’s going to call, we’re going to talk about it. If he’s not calling, there’s a lot of things out there. He’s better just to leave it there and don’t talk about it because at the end of the day there’s nothing good, it’s just rumors.”

Calderon was asked if he could see himself leaving Toronto in the midst of his eight season with the club.

“Right now, I’ve got to say it’s like my second home,” said Calderon. “It’s been eight years now. I don’t know nothing else in the NBA. There’s not a lot of things I can compare it to, but I love it, it’s been great. The city has been great with me, its fans, the organization, so it’s been pretty good. I cannot say anything bad.”

Calderon has not made any decision where he wants to play next season and will evaluate the situation when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

“I think it’s too soon,” said Calderon. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know if I’m going to get traded or not because of my contract situation. Let’s see what happens when we finish the season. I think the summer is going to be the time to think about it, all the pros and cons, in every situation.”

I don't think he will be traded. Lowry isn't healthy enough for us to count on him. If we trade Jose, we simply kill our playoff hopes, unless we win a blockbuster deal, which we all know, ain't gonna happen.

JC may want to decide what he wants to do in the summer but I hope BC doesn't.

Thank you! This is what TO sports fans need to realize. Lowry is far too injury prone to be promoted as our starting PG. If we want to trade Calderon we need someone significantly better and more reliable. I don't think trading Jose is the answer to our problems. If we can get anything for Bargnani now thats a deal I'd do.

Come on now, JC has suffered his far share of injuries himself.

Jose has been injured for a significant chunk of time in every nba season save 2 and has only played 82 games once. How quickly we forget...

Lowry has been less injury prone for his career than Calderon while being far more aggressive and smaller. In fact, why did Calderon not finish the game last night?

I'm curious about that, was he hurt or was he pulled for his poor defense? Not like many played well in that 3rd Q though.... just curious.

I thought he took a knee to his side and that's why he sat out the 4th?

That would explain both...started well and just seemed to taper off.

i'd hate to see us waste another valuable asset for salary cap flexibility. it's time for us to cash in on someone else singing that tune.

I think it is the court at the ACC, every single player we get somehow rolls their ankle at one point or another, and after that it doesn't stop whatsoever

This knee move by Evans was such a dirty play.

What was the excuse for Lucas playing in the fourth w/Lowry? Was he also on fire?

good point, I'm guessing it must have been the injury, because Lucas didn't exactly light it out ....
