Default Is Calderon expendable? Opinions?

We all agree on our dire need for a legit wing player. The question is, have Soloman and Ukic showed enough over the past six games to consider shopping Calderon in a package to return said wing player?

The Raptors have played much better of late with Calderon out of the lineup, and you would be hard pressed to blame either of the loses to the Celtics on our play at the point. I actually think that Ukic and Will both played well. They aren't stellar defenders but they are both quicker than Jose. They don't shoot as well but we've been playing better without much scoring production from our pg's.

So, is Calderon expendable if he can return a solid wing man? Can Will and Ukic carry the load at pg?

I'm a pretty big Jose fan but I'm wondering what you all think...

Oh please don't get rid of Jose.. I think he's only going to keep getting better, plus I can't think of a worse PG rotation in the NBA (Golden State's nonexistent one doesn't count). They are decent fillers while Jose is gone but would be horrible in the long run, imo.

theres no way in hell Ukic and soloman can run the point for this team.
Jose is a premiere PG. top 5 in the east for sure.
if anyone needs to be traded its JO. Bargs has taken over his C spot and is doing a fine job.

That you should rewatch the Boston games. I did with the first, and just to say that all that say Calde defended bad have no clue about basketball.

There was only one play where Calde didn't made his job, so all that shit that Calde defended bad or worse than Roko and Solomon is just bullshit.

Seriously, take the time to download the game and watch it again.

I've re-watched the game 3 times now and Calderon defended quite poorly and it was quite obvious with the amount of help defence the team required when Rondo blew by him every time.

Roko defended Rondo properly (see 4th quarter results and last night's result) and Solomon is an adequate defender. I'd argue that Roko is our best defender at the PG position due to his length, speed and how low he gets when guarding his man.

However, is Calderon expendable? No. It's ridiculous to think that this team can compete consistently with either Roko or Solomon running the point.

Roko still makes too many mistakes, hell see his 4th quarter performance (the 12 to 9 minute mark) where he was either rushing passes or committing near turnovers. And Solomon is a SG in a PGs body. Watching him first hand, sorry, I just don't like him as a PG. He does nothing really but try to score even when he has the open man or he'll shoot way too early in the shot clock.

Calderon is a legit PG in this league and simply giving up on him would be sillyness.

Man, wtf happened? I was going to post my answer when the server failed, now I have to write again.

Claudius, your wrong, Calde was only blew by Rondo one time. Both Roko and Solomon were blew some more times that Calde.

I'm just so feed up with all the shit is going so I re-watched the game play to play (when Calde was on the court) and several times to know how things went.

I don't know to do vids, so I will have to post some screen captures to ilustrate what Calde did. I would like that others did the same, so instead of talking about what everyone remembers we will talk about the real facts.

One week, anyone that wanna do the same will be welcome.

History repeats itself.

About 5 years back we had just signed Mark Jackson to a 3 year deal. He was getting around 9 points 9 assists for us as the time. We had a young stud off the bench named Alvin Williams who was apparently outplaying Mark Jackson in practises, and was a better defender than Jaxx.

So, we traded Jackson at the halfway point of the season, and guess what? We were up and down from that point; yes we became a slightly better defending team overall, but our ball movement was much worse; it used to move freely between the 5 offensive players much quicker, but since we dumped our pass-first PG, we became even more of an isolate-Vince-on-the-wing team.

[*One note: I think we did get Chris Childs in that Jackson deal, and he did give us a much needed edge and some serious cojones, especially in the playoffs]

Calderon is a much younger and better scoring version of Jackson. It's good to have a pass-first PG setup man; it makes you a better team over 82 games and beyond. While I love having a guy like Roko coming off the bench (his scoring is the most underrated part of his game), having a pass-first PG like Calderon is a boon for us.

Don't confuse how we are managing without Calderon in 5-10 game spurts, when both PG's are rested and hungry, with how they would play for him over an 82-game stretch. All of a sudden THEY would start to coast as well and not play as aggressively.

There's an easier way to get a wing player.

Trade Jermaine O'Neal for Vince Carter (and Stromile Swift for cap-filler).

Marc Jackson could probably beat Jose one on one right now. Jose has a long way to go before he even sniffs the level that Marc Jackson once played at.

This has become so crazy that most of you really believe what you post. So we lost both games because of Calderon yeah lets trade him.Talk about defence guys I will say it again and again...its called team defence. We played better defence in game one. Boston shot only 41 % in game 1, we out rebounded them also. We shot 37% but it was all Calderon's fault we lost.Maybe you are all right Caldy should be shooting for all our guys.
Now in game 2 Boston shoots at a .477% clip while we are at .476 clip. We were making shots tonite that we were missing on Sunday. The looks were not any better between the 2 games. So again we should blame this loss on Calderon, why, maybe because the last time we won in Boston Caldy when off for 24 pts and 13 dimes with that clutch basket at the end. lol I say to all you fans stick up for your team they are all working and trying their best. We don't have any idiots on this team this year that puts themselves ahead of team. I say it again we will make the playoffs. Lets try to generate some positive energy towards our team, eliminate all this negative bs it just might be what the doc ordered.

lol. SJ, you're right, but you got to respect any old man who can play point guard in the NBA while being overweight. That's tough. What is Jose's excuse?

Well as you all know i've wanted to trade Calderon since last season...he's a fine offensive player and a great point guard but not for the team we have. Rather than change the whole team and surround him with guys that can create their own shot and better hide his defence...why not trade him while his value is good and bring in a Nash or someone veteran that can hold us for 2 years until Roko is ready to take over. If we can get a wing in the deal, mores the better.
