Default Calderon- is a double/double season a must?

Jose has been either loved or criticized by raps fans. Either he's a great shooter and has great vision, or is too soft, slow and lacks on defense. But his numbers don't lie. He's been inching towards the double/double stats for assists and ppg every year. How important is it for raps success for him to reach that plateau. Do you think with the addition of a solid back up pg in JJ and a ball handler in Turk, he'll be improving his numbers or will the increased ball sharing, and less playing time, equate to a sub standard season for Jose?

I think his scoring should go up a little playing with Turkoglu since he should get a couple extra shots, but his assists will likely go down to around 8APG.

I think he'll play 30MPG and average 13.5PPG/7.5-8APG

A winning season and getting out of the first round is the must for this group. Nothing else matters, including personal stats.

I'd say no, not at all. Hedo will have the ball in his hands alot since he can distribute the ball well. Jose won't have to be the only one to make plays. Therefore, a double double season WON'T be a nessecity.

Really? Cause I'm thinking the total opposite. If he wasn't looking for his shot before, he definetley won't be now. I see his assist numbers rising because he will be playing with great talent that needs the rock.

It's not a must but it would help a lot. I'd rather have him healthy and consistent though.

Stats aren't important. He needs to play aggressively, smartly and tenaciously to help his team win.

I hate when people say stats aren't important. They aren't everything and can be deceiving, but they are importnat in showing what a player can do and what he brings to the team in certain aspects.

As a marker of him playing aggressively, I'd like to see his free throw attempts go up. It would also be nice to see due to the fact that he doesn't miss them.

Nah, he'll be playing less MPG with Jack there behind him, add to that Turkoglu also handling the ball quite a bit, combine the two and his assists will suffer imo. On the other hand because he'll have the ball in his hands less he can look to get a few more open shots with Turkoglu setting him up, so his PPG may go up a bit. The main thing for him is to be healthy, and improve on defence. But health/defence go hand in hand when it comes to Jose.

He doesn't need a double double. Just wanna see him healthy.

Anyone heard news on his injury and if it was still bothering him?

With TGlu in the team, I don't think he will have the high assists that he was getting before. Gotta agree with Jeffb he will have around 30mpg, 13ppg, 7apg.

he will get his 8 assists and probably 12-13 points.

10+ assists is impossible on a team choke full with play makers (and should not be desireable either).

before signing JJ, i would have thought it possible for Clady to get a double/double... but now that he has JJ backing him up, i dont think he'll even get enough time to rack up 10+.
i'd be pleased with 8...
regardless of how much more talent we've got on this squad from last season, the PG spot is still the most important role on the team, and Jose had better bring his A game this season.. he's going to be depended on to help lead us and work the tempo each night.
i have faith in him.
