Default Burning the Bloggers

We all know that the Raptors fan base are one of the most passionate, international and savvy. With that has spawned one if the most active and tight knit on-ine communities in the NBA. Unprecidented in-line presence, has caused many professional writers, to openly comment on the wraith, that can come from Raptor fans, when something is writen that we don't like. With the opinionated fan base has come, and increase in the 21rst century phenom..

....THE BLOG....

Today I will have a look at what is being written, at a few blogs, from our friends, and even those who are not such a big fan of us at RF. So I will blog the blogs and burn the bloggers.

First Up, RF's own Jay.

Jay often adds, some very good insight, and manges to mortar and pestal it all together, with a dry wit that doesn't seem forced at all like some of his comtemporaries. The only issue I take with his blogs is the introduction of "3 in the key". Its so so much his fault really just a pet peeve of mine, and it happens on every broadcast. The "lists" of what a team has to do be better than others, all can be broken down to, "score more points than them", the rest is just the frosty coating, on the mini wheat.

Scott Carefoot

Probably the longest running raptorblog out there, Scott comes with some industry cred as witnessed with his "relationship" with The Score (which has managed to ruin the best NBA programming out there, but I digress). Scott has a really good blog site with great links, and "Raptorman" whos ticket discounts make him a favorite on any site. Here is my problem with Carefoot, because of his "relationships" in the industry, he never really steps out of the box and states opinion, untill, it is the publics opinion. In the off-season, I suggested here that perhaps, we are witnessing the fall of Bosh, or at least a let down season, Scott let me know in his own words, how wrong I was, only to write almost exactly, what I said a month later. I understand his want to defend himself, but If he could just admit he was wrong every now and again it would be much better. Oh, and Scott, I'm not sure what those little cartoon guys are on your site, but I'm not clicking them, Its a blog, I want to read it.

DinoBlogger.

Ugh. Ummm. James is obviously a very passionate Raptor fan, also has some good connections, and has secured some great interviews. His blog however, has absolutly NO substance...none, he sounds like an MLSE shill most of the time. Not to mention some really poor spelling and grammar, the blog is hard to get through, at times as it reads like a PR piece for the Raps as oppose to a opinion piece. The site over all is good, I like the NBA content on the right, I just feel if James can get passed an increasing notion of self worth (see letter to BC, in which he throws in "I'm sure someone will tell you about my blog"), fix the grammar, and come up with some original thought, he could become very good.

Raptors Republic

Off the top, Great Site. The Republics, attempt to bring the on-line community together for drinks is a noble cause. Roundtable on the site is a wonderful idea and I would love to see more of it. Now for the tough stuff, the accually blogging content reads like a recap of the threads here at RF, while that is not a bad thing at all, as the Republic, is more "content" than blog, there may come a time for them to just direct all discussion here in some kind of partnership.

Searching for '93

The new kid on the block for me, I personally love his stuff, only beacuse he is willing to take other bloggers and writers to task, and its funny. He manages to be funny without being elitest which is what we see out of most other blogs. More content is needed, and I think a tighter grasp, on what exactly he wants the blog to be, as I don't even think knows. Thats not nessecarily a bad thing, just gets confusing when calling him a "raptor blog" is a little tough at this point.

Well thats what I think..take it for whats worth...which is about $1.24

I like LX's blog, therefore I vote "Benzo get a life" option for not including LX in poll

I'm impartial, but I have to go with Jay/LX, but all guys are great in their own right.

Still waiting for the day when you begin blogging Benzo.

I personally try to read them all plus Doug Smith, Michael Grange, Eric Smith and Mike Ulmer.
I like to get as many perspectives as possible and then ignore them by formulating my own opinion anyway. That's all Blogs are - opinions, and we all know what opinions are like. Assholes - everyones got one.

So what is stopping you? To have a decent site is only about 100 CDN / year with a Blog tool included.
