Default Bryan Collangelo: Preseason Opinion Poll

Is B.C. still the boy with the golden touch? The man who can turn soft Italians into beautiful golden stallions? With his Ivy league education and strong collars, how can he be anything less than the golden child of prophecy?

Or is B.C. simply a 'daddy's boy' opportunist with no real sense for the game? Groomed to be a NBA GM despite lacking the attributes inherent in all great GMs, is B.C. merely an imposter G.M. sucking the life out of the Toronto Raptors?

When Colangelo is done, a new "BC" will take over as GM: BarraCuda.

Rejoice.

BC did the right moves. Its time to tank and get a top 3 pick in a stacked draft. Sign scrubs on one-year contracts and veternan minimums, and hire a coach who can start to teach defense on the few players (Derozan, Davis, Amir) that will move forward. From a thread earlier, the "best player on the Raptors" is Andrea, and when he is your best player, you'll get a top 5 lottery pick every year.

How are we in a bad position?

1. We hired a defensive specialist as a coach, who just happens to be coming off a championship.

2. We have a top 3 pick coming towards us, maybe one more via trade?

3. We have a fantastic amount of young talent:

DeRozan is a probable future star, deff has the work ethic and tools.

Ed Davis was a steal out of the draft(was supposed to be top 3 before getting injured) and he will be a double double machine, if not already one, who has all-star potential aswell along with great fundamentals.

Bayless is a possible starting PG for the future, but if it doesn't work out, didn't really work hard to get him.

Amir, if here, is a piece to a contending team. Dude flat out plays his heart out and gives himself up for Toronto. Starting PF potential? Not sure, probably, but doesn't look like he'll get that playing time. But I would love to have him and Davis play the 4 for years.

JJ is a great player to have come off the bench for a winner. Well worth a 2nd rounder, another BC gem. Can he become a starter(for a winning team), I would doubt it, but he has a great attitude and has the physique, mentality and the tools to possibly become one. Very well rounded player, can pass, get vertical, block shots, steal and rebound. Needs to learn to shoot. I would say a poor man's Lamar Odom or a very very very poor man's LeBron James.

4. JV: This guy needs his own section...Scouts and analysts think this guy is well worth the wait of a season that's shortened and not much of importance. Will be a future star at his position and the player possibly with the most potential out of that draft and deff the best big man out of it. A true center, one we've been waiting for. We should be set with our big men for years and years.

5. We have enough capspace and flexibility next summer to sign a max player(maybe two?) or a lot of solid players to fill in some holes in the rotation. Can sign multiple proven starters.

6. Expiring in Barbosa? Solid trading piece or just to have it come off the books.

7. Last chance for Bargs to show he can be a Dirk or just a solid defensive player to go with his offensive skillset. You can EASILY tell he's shown the door if he doesn't live up to Casey's expectations of him. Should still have some trade value for a player like him.

I believe in BC..
