Bryan Colangelo Approval Rating
Simple question. When Colangelo's contract ends next summer, do you want him back as the GM of the Raptors?

Interesting early poll results. A lot of people were calling for his head when he failed to sign Nash to a contract.
Personally, I like him. He has made some moves that did not work out, but I supported most of them at the time. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and blame him for the O'Neal and Turkoglu deals. |

His contract doesn't necessarily end next summer. There's an option year for 2013-14. But yes i want him to stay here. I like the direction we're headed in, with the hiring of Casey and the decision to get players in here that add toughness and defense. With players like Valanciunas, Lowry, Ross, Fields i think we're headed in the right direction. And BC is definitely showing a lot more patience than i thought he would.

He actually makes very smart draft picks that most other GM's cannot see the potential that bryan can... he is making bold decisions that are making us tough and hence alot better, i would much rather have a bad team with a GM making bold moves, smart draft picks and solid trades than a GM thinking that the team will naturally improve, so yeah big thumbs up!

Unfortunately, his bold moves haven't been working out all the time.
The main blockbusters that he did: 1. Charlie V for TJ Ford This one worked out for us for sure. TJ Ford was a huge part of the 06-07 team that won the division. 2. Ford, Nesterovic, 17th pick for Jermaine O'Neal This one was supposed to turn us into contenders. It sounded nice in theory because JO would have gave us a complimentary player with Bosh. Due to injury and a weak supporting cast, this move didn't work out. 3. Sign-and-trade for Turkoglu Again, this one was supposed to get us back into the playoffs. We were supposed to get a point forward and clutch preformer to supplement Bosh and Bargnani. This failed for obvious reasons. You can't blame him for effort. Hopefully the next big trade will work out. |

When I compare Bryan to other general managers throughout the league I believe we have a great one. BC is a professional who wants to win and makes strategic intelligent decisions. Sure, he's had some screw ups (Turk, JO) but sometimes taking risks are necessary since we had a perennial All-Star in Bosh who wanted to get to the next level.
His drafting ability has been solid to say the least and that is really all you can ask for. BC listen to the fans and the city when molding the team. It's been known that we've needed some toughness and defense and that's exactly what he's been striving to achieve. Sure after the Nash fall through I wanted BC's head on a platter. But once you take a step back you realize that Nash's decision may have been more beneficial to Toronto in the long run. BC was somewhat pushed to make a hard run at Nash by MLSE due to the marketing possibilities. Bryan did I nice job having the Lowry trade up his sleeve. All in all I believe Bryan Colangelo has been a good GM for us and if you think otherwise please explain why ![]() |

honestly its too early to tell. i want to see how the season goes and then decide. im not pro BC but i would like for this season to happen before deciding whether or not i approve. many are optimistic with our new additions but weren't we also optimistic with the JO trade? Hedo signing? getting Marion? look how those turned out. he's swung and missed a lot of times but im not asking for his head on a stick or a platter right now, it changes though.
and as for his draft choices... im not too fond of them although i will say im excited for Jonas Valanciunas. |

I don't think it's fair to play captain hindsight, I never do.
I think BC deserves an extension. We need to let him finish what he started, and let the organization have some continuity. |

i like that we added players that fit our core and in the same age range, from 20 to 26,
we have young team still but we have a deep team |

I challenge anyone to name me a GM that has had to make bold moves (due to a weaker draft position or talent that does not mesh) that has not made any fuck ups.
5% of teams get lucky enough to draft a superstar. Another small percentage get lucky enough to trade/sign for one. |

The golden boy has always had the support ahead of the results. That's what makes him a fantastic GM.
I like what he's done after Bosh/Bargs and I like Casey, but Casey is still unproven and needs to get results, and if he doesn't, I want to see what players Collangelo supports if losing for yet another creates a rift in the locker room. |

BC has always done his best. the only stupid move he made was to hire Triano as a head coach.
If we were able to have Casey (or any coach that knows what Defense is) at the time of firing Sam Mitchell, then we might not have failed horribly during the last few years - or at least when Marion/JO used to play for Raptors. ![]() |

Unless the 11 "no's" have some really good fucking info that nobody else has, they will be hard pressed to convince me they have a clue what they are talking about.
His Value is almost so airtight its non debatable. Hard damn work making it go in this city man, I think the guy is a Boss. |

I approve of assigning blame rather than making excuses. Now that he's following something of a blueprint and acquiring a good number of two-way players, I can't say I'm unhappy at all. But the expectation of letting the defense slip in order to improve the offense worries me a little. I just don't trust his gut instincts to favor offense over defense. That instinct has simply brought too many garbage players here, and resulted in overpaying other so-so players.

Players not wishing to be here = over payment, any thoughts otherwise are simply inaccurate. Outside of maybe 5-6 other destinations, the story is very similar, Toronto just happens to be the epicenter of this horrible reality.
