His current contract is coming to an end soon. A few months ago we were talking about how it would be catastrophic if he wasn't locked up long term. Now i know Raptor fans are reactionary beyond belief with their quick and violent mood swings, but lets look at the bigger picture: The last 2 seasons have been utter shit and the season before that was very average.

So, basically you could say dude got lucky in his first year and has come back down to earth after that. Not sure if i would say that exactly, but one could argue that case if they felt it was the truth.

Now i still think he's a crafty GM who could get lucky again, but is he someone you want at the top for the next 5 years?

You have to be sur eto hire someone better or at least the same level, but as they say, cemetery are full of indispensable people. Anyway I still think working in Canada is more difficult due to prejudice

he had a plan that he was trying to stick to, but it certainly hasnt worked out well.

He'll stick around, he is a legit GM and franchise needs stability of having someone like that here.

I'm in somewhat agreement with the previous posters. Its like looking at two piles of shit on the floor. You have a choice in stepping in one pile you step in every day or you step in a new pile a shit. For now I'll keep the comfortable old pile of shit so he sees Hedo and Jose's bad contracts every day he walks into work.

He'll only produce mediocre teams.

I think Colangelo can get the deals done he wants, but his vision of how to build a team is off.

I'll chalk all this up to a learning experience and let him have another go, if he is willing to change his team style.

While there could be another guy that would take the reigns, he probably would be comparable to Colangelo (if not worse).

I think if we want to have some credibility as a franchise, we need to actually have someone that represents us. As we can't seem to keep players, and good coaches are hard to come by, why not make it our GM.

He is a legit GM, however how many disasterous mistakes does he have to commit.

1. JO acquisition
2. Hedo acquisition
3. Triano Hiring

One thing you gotta say about the man is that when things go sour about his acquistions, he's always quick to remedy them (Fred Jones, JO, lack of depth..)

He's gotta stay on unless you can find someone with a pedigree and track record that is just as impressive, if not better.

Next season is the last on his contract. Most of his moves were initially accepted by a great majority as a good move. The JO move was soundly liked by most, same with the Marion move and the Turkoglu move and the moves to peceeded it made many blow a load and thinking we were 50 win team. So to all of a sudden say well it didn't work out he needs to go is a bit hypocritical. It's understandable to be pissed at the results, but BC has put together one of the most talented team we've seen in Toronto this season. And for whatever reason this team has been up & down all season and the last 6 weeks has been riddled with injury as well.

Colangelo is one of the best GM's in the NBA and lends alot of cedibility to a franchise that desperately needs it. Not only that he's a GM that is very proactive and intense and hates to lose. I have confidence that he'll do the right moves this summer to move us forward. The Chris Bosh situation this summer will likely set the tone for his final season under contract and what he gets done in that reguard (S&T or re-signing Chris), and his subsequent moves will make or break wether or not he stays here long term.

Well last summer he got Evans, Amir, Jack, Demar, Weems, Wright. It's not as if we have 10 Euro's.

He needs to build around a legit shooting guard, not a power forward. Now, Bosh is good, but most teams don't build around this type of player. This also goes for Bargs. Get rid of him.

well you referred to it as "this euro thing" so of course you were hating on Euros in general. whether or not it was your intention is another thing, but who really cares.

Speaking of barely doing anything....
He means we have more euros on the team than others. We had three euro starters until recentely.
