Default Brandon Knight compared to Jerryd Bayless

Basketball Prospectus | 2011 Draft by Similarity

So yeah... I found this pretty interesting. Brandon Knight is compared to Jerryd Bayless. Why draft Knight when we have Bayless? What can Knight do more effectively than Bayless?

If Bayless was in this draft he would get drafted around the same time as Walker and Brandon, maybe even before. I remember P.J saying how they were seriously thinking about drafting Bayless instead of Westbrook who went #4.

Because Knight or Walker would defend better than Bayless right now. Bayless just have to be taught by Casey to properly defend.

Based on what? Bayless is a great defender, and has proven more than Kemba and Knight. Without him every point guard in the NBA would of gone off for 50 points. Bayless is a very fair assessment for Knight, because Knight can't do anything better than Bayless.. so this comparison is kind of a compliment.

Great defender? Man i really wonder what you watch for six months during the season. Bayless is a pretty good defender but far from great. He has potential. You seem to use the word great a lot when describing some of our players.

well how players project should not concern any team as each player develops their own identity. i'm sure bayless could of gotten close to westbrooks potential with the right coaching.. plz don't quote me on this

Idk if you took this in but they also had Kyrie compared to rose, Kawhi Leonard to Joe Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas to Dwight so I wouldn't take much of what they as true, although I do see the some resemblance in their games. They also have Alec Burks compared to bayless.

i believe bayless with be the starter over Calderon when the raps start next season

he is a highly talented and regarded player, obviously he didn't like whre he was playing, plus injuries never let him settle

with health and development i can see him being more of a natural starter for this team, his defense alone is much more important at this point, he can insulate some of Bargs issues

meanwhile Calderon will go to his natural position, best back up pg in the nba

problem is Calderon believes he is a starter and doesn't seem to want to accept being a bench player, when did accept it we had 47 wins

i thin Calderon is a starter, just that he's probably a starter on a bad team like ours, and bayless is a borderline starter and sixth man
the problem here is that neither guy is clearly better than the other, it was the same with tj and the jack
we need someone that is the clear starter, so everyone knows their role, these 2 guys both think they're the starter

Brandon Knight will have problems in Detroit. Wow, the last thing they needed was another guard.
