Nope, the future...no way. But i think most would have thought he was going to be a PART of the future. As for Jennings, i think a PG like that is what this team needs. A quicker younger PG that can help us get transition buckets and not slow things down to a complete hault. If we're going to be a very good defensive team we need to be able to score fast break points and be good in transition otherwise what's the point. I'm not saying that player should be Jennings necessarily but a similar PG.

Smart, calm yes.......but not slow as molasses. And further to that a PG that can at times take it upon himself to take over a game if our team has injuries or our top 2 options are struggling. Jose is a nice enough PG but he's not the PG for this team going forward imo or when we're ready to contend. As a 4Mil backup, sure but that'll never happen. Besides i think deep down he'd rather move on anyway.

Another case of people giving up on someone way too early.

Gotcha.

In his 4th season? That's too early to you?

That's laughable. The fact is last summer people loved fields after his rookie year. Now that he doesn't get off to a great start much like his disfunctional team in his second season he sucks and/or is overrated? People jump on and off player bandwagons so quick. Same with Brooke Lopez, first two seasons most here called him a beast, one bad season rebounding wise and he awful and most would rather have his dumb brother istead.

Well, Jeff, just because a team is very good defensively does not automatically mean they need to be looking to run a lot, or even by a good running team. You're making it sound like running off of defense is some kind of inevitable conclusion that a team should be trying to reach. That's not necessarily the case. In the past, some very good defensive teams have won a lot of games by keeping the pace really slow and grinding teams down. Doing that, makes every possession valuable, because they'll be fewer shots during the game (thus making each stop more valuable as well).

Having said that, if your team has the personel to run, then I like the idea of running off of defensive stops. It can be a great way of getting easy buckets. My point is just that it is not always a goal in and of itself when teams are tyring to play tough D.

It seems to me Casey wants to run. Everytime we make a stop he's yelling at them to run, and there's Jose jogging up the floor, then stopping and dribbling for 10 seconds. We are currently a half court team, and imo JJ, Derozan, Barbosa and our team in general would benefit more if we ran at least a little more.

Demar especially sucks in half court offense. He gets stagnant and is much better in transition. Half court with nobody that can create for themselves or hit 3's consistently is as we can see disastrous.

Is it not too early for you? He's only 23 years old remember, don't let that bald spot fool you.

If he was pushing 30, then you can give up on him. But he's still very young, and has shown flashes of what he can become, it's just injuries have gotten in the way as well as adjusting to a new coach that also affected him. He has all the talents and intangibles and drive to become the point guard you described earlier. It's just a matter of whether he can put it all together.

Oh, and I wasn't making a point about Fields, I agree with you in that department. I just like fucking with you, nothing personal.

Mark Jackson and John Stockton weren't exactly the fastest players on the court.... just saying. Not that I'm putting Jose in their class by any stretch of the imagination.

All we've had here for the past 7-8 years is PGs who charge headlong into the defense and chuck shots. I don't know about you but I'm sick of it. I've enjoyed watching Jose play under control and get people involved.

Jose's been here 7yrs. As for the other PG's, most were scrubs and TJ Ford gave is some exciting ball to watch before he got hurt.
