Brad stevens as assistant coach next season ?

Brad stevens is the head coach of BUttler (NCAA)

he is a defense coach, and since 3 decades has become the new fast coach to reach the 100th in only two years.
he lead his team to the final last year, and again the elite 8.

not many great player in his team, but he manage to win and defend.

so i hope we can have next season a coach like him as assistant, with jay (if he stay) that could help !

what do you think ?

If he as good as it sounds, should put him in head coach right away

I'm silently hoping for Rockets to let Rick Adelman go and BC snatching him

the guy can get almost any head coaching job in college and make more money than being an assistant in the NBA
plus, he seems more like a college guy to me

Maybe he has aspirations of being a head coach in the NBA. And is willing to be an assistant first, same as Messina apparently.

The guy just signed a 12 year contract contract last year.

He`s still young as far as coaches ago. I`m sure he can afford to wait a while for a crack at the NBA, if he even wants one.

If its true, I'd take em.

Hes too young to be a head coach, some NBA players are even older than him.

Link? Or did you dream this up last night?

carp 03-25-2011 11:55 AM

Is he a bit of a hard-ass? If not, no thanks...... I'd prefer Mitchell to come work under Jay.

:bosh: Should = :rupaul: (just to make it as accurate as possible)

Mitchell under Triano I think would work out decently.

Mitchell is extremely tough but not the smartest. Triano is not tough at all but very smart(besides late game play-calling). Evens each other out with the more smarter one being the head. :p

Mitchell is a better coach overall, but i don't want either at this point. if a change is made, the only thing i want is someone with experience to come in and preach defense and accountability.

College zone defense against untalented players (in comparison) translates to NBA defense how? Current contract? Why? He's won what? And its $%^&*( Butler?

Bankiz 03-25-2011 04:35 PM

just to be clear, you can go to wiki about him, and another thing ; i don't talk about him being our head coach, or the first assistant right now or next season, but to be in the staff, learn the organisation, and prepare him to take the job in few years.

wiki :

I see your points but your last point kinda doesn't make sense?

You say its $*#&&$&$ Butler so that would make it even more impressive that he had them in the Championship game last year & Elite 8 this year(and not over let). No other team can say they been to the Elite 8 the past two years(Kentucky can if they win tonight).

So with less talent he is getting his team a lot farther then a lot more teams.

But like I said in the NCAA thread he is not going no where. If he was offer a NBA HC job then you could start talking. He loves Butler and has turned down bigger NCAA coaching jobs.

Yeah I wouldn't mind them both here. Remember what Mitchell said when he came back to the ACC with the Nets? He would have done things differently than what he did when he was here and would love to coach the Raps again...something like that
