Boston Globe: ILMAGO one of the main reasons for Italy's woes this summer

Frank Dell'Apa loses all credibility when he states Belinelli is still a Warrior, but it's a slow day.... and Bargs did have a bad summer with Italy.

Quote:
Three Italian players will be with NBA teams next season, but Italy’s national team is probably weaker than it has been in decades. The Azzurri reached a low point by being eliminated from qualifying for the European Championships (Sept. 7-20 in Poland), falling twice to France and losing to Finland in a last-chance tournament this month. Some of the blame landed on Toronto’s Andrea Bargnani, nicknamed “Il Mago’’ (“The Wizard’’). La Gazzetta Dello Sport noted that Bargnani justified the moniker with an “innate ability to disappear before the eyes of the crowd.’’ But the Italian problems also reflect the contrast in styles between European basketball and the NBA, according to La Gazzetta’s Massimo Oriani. The domestic players were attempting to play more of a team game, while Bargnani and Marco Belinelli of the Warriors tended to try to set up isolation situations against defenders. As proficient as Bargnani and Belinelli can be one-on-one, they were easily negated as Finland and France confronted them with two or three players in a matchup zone defense, which is allowed in the international game.

Bargs didn't play well though
hardy got any touches
it was all Beli and Beli kicking it out to an open guard
Bargs was around the basket a lot

Bargs was not the reason for Italies poor play. Its the coaches fault. He obviously didn't know how to use Bargs. In the tournament, he barely got any touches. Bargs wasn't really able to get his "mojo" going, because he seldomly got the rock.

When you say Bargnani is a Warrior, no one will take you seriously.

The guy in the article said Belli is a Warrior, not Bargs.

They mean, " While Bargnani and Belinelli of the Warriors." Meaning they are introducing Belli.

It's introducing them both as Warriors or unprofessionally ass he probably does not know that they are both Raptors.

Not to say that he was or wasn't the reason his team was ousted. With this year's Raptors deep team, Andrea Bargnani and his supports be aware there aren't any places left to point fingers at.

i like how they say
"Finland and France confronted them with two or three players in a matchup zone defense, which is allowed in the international game"

they say it like you aren't allowed to put 2 or 3 guys on 1 player in the nba, the fact is you can but nobody does because if they did then 1 or 2 other guys on the team would be wide open and in the nba most of the other players can take someone one-on-one

I hope barg doesnt play "good for 10 games and than bad for 10 games"...If he plays that way..i can gurantee you he will get trade to another team for not such a good players...the Raptors will not improve from last season...most likely a first round exit..barg has to play consistent so the coaches can make plays around him...the game should not play ,rather he should play the game....

As has been said already: if the Italian coaches knew that Bargs and Belinelli were going to play the NBA style, and they knew that matchup zone defenses (or whatever) were going to be legal, then who is really at fault here?

If the Boston Globe wants to take a break from sucking Jason Bay's dick and blame Bargs for Italy's poor performance, they can go ahead.

Finland may have eliminated Italy, but how many Finnish players are in the NBA? As far as I'm concerned, it would be far more upsetting if Bargs and Belinelli all of the sudden went back to playing the Euro style (any more than they already do). The Raptors do, after all, play in the NBA.
