Bosh: "I love Toronto and Toronto loves me"

Quote:
After talking to Bosh at his basketball camp at Greenhill Academy on Tuesday, I have to put him alongside LeBron and Dwyane in the "no chance" club.

There are multiple reasons, but No. 1 is that Bosh genuinely likes Toronto.

Who wouldn't? It's a great cosmopolitan city. I guess if you are young and rich, even Sacramento looks good, but Toronto has clearly won over the pride of Dallas' Lincoln High.

"It probably took me two or three years, but I went there when I was 19," said Bosh, who played one season at Georgia Tech after helping Lincoln to a state title. "I was fresh out of college. I was used to roommates and guys knocking on the door, saying where the frat party was.

"But I love Toronto. And Toronto loves me."

The Raptors would love to keep their best player. It's possible Toronto could extend his contract in the next week. But if Bosh does pursue free agency, as expected, would the Mavericks like to see Bosh in Dallas for something other than a summer camp?

They would have to welcome any player who averaged 22.7 points and 10 rebounds last year. Bosh turns 26 in March, meaning he's in position to sign for his prime years in the league.

Quote:
Toronto's signing of Hedo Turkoglu has sparked Bosh's hopes that last season's disappointment – the Raptors won only 33 games after making the playoffs the year before – was an aberration.

And it's refreshing to listen to one of the game's young superstars inject humility into a discussion of what it takes to win.

Wade has talked about leaving the Heat if Miami can't acquire more talent. James has made it clear that the bright lights of New York and endorsement deals could be a factor in his future.

Listen as Bosh talks about the Raptors becoming a power in the East.

"We have to play well. Last year, we got ahead of ourselves with our expectations," Bosh said. "We can talk about the Raptors getting better and new players coming to the team.

"Well, I know we can get better at the starting 4 position. And that's me. That's why I'm working hard this summer on all parts of my game."

Bosh said he wasn't able to do so a year ago, when his Olympic commitment eliminated practice time. But winning gold for Team USA refueled the appetite he developed during Lincoln's magical 40-0 "national championship" season.

"We all want to win," he said." We don't want to just be in this game to say, 'Well, I played in the league.'

"You want people to remember you. And you want it to be for championships."

Even Bosh probably out of Dallas Mavericks' reach | Sports News | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

For all his faults, he's one of the classier stars in the league
it's easy for us to see his faults from outside, but when you had the success you had, it takes strength to keep your head straight
and that's what makes winners out of very good players
that's why Carter will always be a loser despite having more talent than Kobe
let's not forget that Carter was the "next MJ" before Kobe ...

I hope so too.

Seriously, for all the talk of free agency and 2010, it's cool to read Bosh saying that.

Well we shall see...

If Bosh can bring it like he did the first month of last season and keep it going for the rest of the season more games than not he could be looking at huge numbers...

I want to see defensive stats from him though....

Ideally if he wants MAX Money I think he has to have at least KG prime numbers...Like 24ppg 11rpg 1.5blks 1.5stl & at least 2-3 assist per game.

That would even get him into the MVP chants.

Hope he proves the critics wrong this season.

It is going to be a defining season for Bosh he will either go big or go home so to speak. (Meaning he might go to Dallas)

He's dead on about what happened last season. They got ahead of themselves and forgot about the work and commitment that was needed, particularly over a long season. And that's what he's talking about now. Very nice to hear.

Of course it's nice to hear, but we heard that talk before last season's debacle as well.

I'm excited, but I'm trying to temper my expectations as much as possible before the season starts. I've been let down too much to do otherwise.

Signing Bargnani was a sign. I feel that he will sign an extension too. It is the safe choice for him.

I hope he does work on all parts of his game.

Solid player but he better prove he is worth that money he wants.

Alot of people keep thinking 24 and 11 for Bosh, no way he is getting 24ppg without either Turk or Bargs ppg dropping. Team isnt going to score 140 points a game.

Bosh already scored 23ppg last season, what difference does one point make? If we are winning and Bosh has improved on defense, he will be in the MVP race for sure... especially if we are still underdogs this year.

And I think that our scoring average will go up to about 110ppg as a team. If Triano is making our team run this year, we are going to score at least a few more points per game.

Still.
Turk is gonna get at least 15, any less and the signing will look real bad, I expect 18-20ppg.
I expect Bargs to score close to 20 like the last half of the season(when Bargs was scoring 20 Bosh was down around 20)
A healthy Jose will give 14 or 15
DD will give mabey 10
I just cant see how a starting lineup is gonna be able to sustain 70-80ppg.

I think:
Bargs will get 20
Hedo will get 16
Bosh will get 23
Jose will get 12
DD will get 8
Jack will get 12 off the bench

That gives us 91. Guys like Wright, Evans, Rasho, Delfino, will combine for another 20. Seems reasonable to me...

I agree, you're pretty close. Probably the biggest margin for error is with DD's numbers, could be 10+ if he really plays well.
