Exclamation Bosh Hints He Will Opt Out in 2010

Quote:
Chris Bosh, the Toronto Raptors all-star, suggested strongly Thursday that he will forgo signing a contract extension this summer, setting himself up to be among a historically stacked NBA free agent class next year.

"(When) I signed a three-year (extension in 2006)... I had a goal in mind, and that was to put myself in the best position (in 2010) ... I'm thinking I just want to stick to my goal, stick to what I was doing," said Bosh.

"That's a part of the plan ... I just want to address things (after) next season. There's a reason why I did things the way I did them back then."

Bryan Colangelo, the Raptors president and general manager, has spoken optimistically about the odds of inking his best player to an extension this summer, when Bosh could sign a three-year addition to his current deal as early as next month. Still, Colangelo was hardly taken aback by word that Bosh was leaning strongly toward opting out of his current deal in 2010, when the 6-foot-10 forward would be among a crop of free agents that includes LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

"I have been pretty clear that that's what I anticipate his position to be," said Colangelo.

Bosh, slated to earn about $15.7 million (U.S.) next season, said leaving his contract status hanging will be a "win-win situation" for both him and his struggling team, which won just 33 games this past season.

"It puts pressure on both sides. It puts pressure on me to perform, and it puts pressure on the organization to perform as well," said Bosh, who was speaking after he performed his paid duties as the celebrity drawmaster for Saturday's Woodbine Oaks horse race.

Cue comments about how Feschuk misinterpreted Bosh's words and how it will be the mean and surly reporters in Toronto who really drove Bosh out of town...

Goodbye Bosh! Hello Amare LOL

Or Hello Beidrins & Azubuike or Randolph + fillers.

Or Hello Kaman & #1 pick + fillers.

Or Hello Butler & Blatche + fillers.

This years NBA Draft is going to be crazy for Raptors fans that all I can say!

Is there really any question that we're going to trade him now? He's got to go while we can still get value!

Yea true. If he isn'tgoing to sign a contract extension I think we should deal him as quickly as we can but I doubt anyone will take him for a one year deal

Very disappointed to hear this news. Still hoping we sign Bosh. Just because he's not signing the extension this summer, doesn't mean he's leaving the team. He just puts additional pressure on BC to win now, and show the franchise player that team is progressing. Its all on BC's plate, his first summer was stellar, but the last two off seasons BC stunk up the joint (Kapono signing & JO Trade). Work the phones & get some real players here or franchise player is leaving.

Kind of sad, BC's legacy will now be known as the GM who lost the franchise's best player.

1. Amare already stated that he wants to go to NY to play. Plus, there's no way Phoenix has any dealings with Toronto because of the Colangelo factor.

2. GSW has already stated that Randolph is untouchable.

3.Kaman has a nasty contract, and if we'd be getting Kaman and the #1, what happens to Bargnani? Bosh to the Clips doesn't make sense too because of the comments that Randolph made about Bosh.

4. If the Wiz have one untouchable, it's gonna be Butler. I can't see them trading Butler and others for Bosh.

There are alot of teams that will be interested....In one form of conversation, the team he will be traded to can also get a verbal confirmation that he will be looking to resign with them which would be taken as a done deal so it may limit what teams we can trade to...

1. Amare isn't going to decide where he plays the Suns do that.

2. GSW has no clue what there doing with there roster so I would beg to differ Randolph is not untouchable unless you know someone that works for the GSW's then lets leave it at that.

3. Kamans contract is not nasty he just had some injuries this year ...and we can do what ever we want with the #1 pick how does having Kaman or the #1 pick effect AB?

4. Some people think Bosh can go for Butler & some people do think it couldn't happen, I am just one of those who says he could & you are one who say he won't.

My points to all your Untouchable statments are:
"No body in the NBA is untouchable"

I really believe Bosh doesn't want to stay in Toronto...Remember back in the day when he said he wants to be a solution to the problem?
Why doesn't he say that now?

I think he feels that he tried his best here and made strides to get his team into the playoffs & now he probably feels like going back to the U.S.
u know? going back to where he's lived halph of his life.

GSW would trade Randolph to get Bosh imo. And if not, i believe we can still get a good pacakage from them.

Kaman has a shitty contract and has missed way too many games the last two seasons, and we need more of a sure thing (less risk) if we're gonna trade bosh.

The wizard would trade Butler imo to get Chris Bosh. Otherwise Washington has no chance at getting him.

I mean playing for contracts. It's unsettling to hear. Where's Roy Halladay? Roy?!

This hurts us in getting a good package for him imo. He wants to test free agency, therefore if we trade him it better not be to Memphis or another shitty market.

Wherever he goes, they're going to know he wants to test FA market which hurts our return.
