Default Bosh: Higher Expectations Will Be There Next Season

Another story pertaining to Chris and that he acknowledges that because he's stepped up his game significantly this summer especially on defense, that the expectations will be that much more for him and the Raptors next season.

"I can play defence," he said. "I know I'm digging a hole for myself with the Raptors and everything, because the expectations are going to be there. But I can play defence, and I can play a different role. I think that's hard for guys to accept sometimes, but I just want to win."

Well I think with Jermaine being there as well, is going to make this a formidable front court, and dare I say, our rebounding issues are finally in check, not to mention having two good shot blockers to clog the lane be helpful for the traditionally atrocious perimeter defense.
I actually disagree with him though, I think having jermaine there as well is going to make the expectations less about him carrying the load, but finding the space for the two of them to play to their strengths.

We will expext him to lead by example on defence. Considering how mediocre a defender he's been throughout his career so far, it's about time he improves there.

What a dork.

I guess that was the issue, Mitchell forgot to tell him he was supposed to play defence

Motivation is the only thing going on here. These guys are motivated to play hard.

I would gamble and say they are all capable of that in the NBA, however, over 82 games, they find it hard to stay motivated and focused.

Too many games, season should only be 70 or so

Especially if a player also plays in the summer it is very tiring for him to play 82 games in a season

Bosh is being led at the Olympics. On the floor and from the bench. He's never had that in Toronto. Maybe Jermaine becomes the main guy and Bosh becomes his sidekick...I know some are going to take offense to that but it is realisitcally a possibility and its not like its below him.

You all make fun of the guy, but im betting not many people would say shit to his face, and im betting not many Raptors do either.

As for Bosh, they have played a bunch of crappy lesser then NBA teams with lesser then NBA players (except when he guarded a hurt Yao for a bit vs China), so im not exactly sure what it means til the season begins.

Oh, im drop kicking Shaq down a flight of stairs

I mean to diss someone as a player, cool, some guys suck or whatever. But alot of the hate directed towards Joey is personal, his intelligence level etc. If smoothie had no cops to back him up and wasnt gonna run like a fool he wouldnt go up to Joey and be like "your a dumb ass motherfucker with no future". I was also meaning that i bet not many if any Raptor players step up to Joey with insults either.

lol that was basically my point, Joey is a physical specimen, and i think alot of the raptor players didnt have the courage to step up to him. It would have probably been better for him if there was an old tough vet ala Charles Oakley to set him straight, but when you have a team of cowards....

I agree with SJ, but there are other things to go with the motivation. Youth and inexperience tends to lead guys to favor relying on offense and not emphasizing defense. And the makeup of the locker room makes a big difference. If there's only the coach holding people accountable, then the emphasis just isn't going to be there. In the end - if the effort leads to wins it will continue. Bosh has had many a solid effort on both ends that ended in losses here, and that is a motivational killer.

I would say that Bosh already knows that he will be held fully accountable beyond the coaching this season, with JO there, and that he too will be looked upon to hold everyone else accountable. That makes a big difference, especially if the results come with it. I'm sure that same thing is playing out like it hasn't for some time on the US team.
