Bosh Breaks Own Record

:reporter:

Quote:

Okay, so we all know that Chris Bosh doesn’t drive the ball often enough and never attacks the basket and he’s a soft jump-shooting big man, he said with dripping sarcasm.

So, if that’s the case, riddle me this, folks:

How did Bosh set a new Raptor record last night by getting nine trips to the line that gave him 599 for the season? That eclipses his own record of 590, set in 2006-07.

Oh, and how’s he been to the line more than all but four guys in the entire league this season? How’s been there more often than Kobe, more often than Tim Duncan, more often than Brandon Roy or Shaquille O’Neal?

Now, I’m not a big stats guy as the only way to measure a players’ impact on a game, a season or his team.

But those are impressive numbers even to me. And really ought to silence some of the critics, shouldn’t they? They won’t, of course. But they should.

Snooch 04-13-2009 08:50 AM

Whoever wrote that doesnt think it is conceivably possible that one can get fouled in other ways that dont involve driving the ball to the basket.

Maybe t was on a jumper, mabey it was off an offensive rebound, mabey it was off a dish from a drive.

totally not possible though because getting fouled is a direct showing of how often you drive [/sarcasm]

Good for Bosh though.

edit: after re-reading that, it must be a dougie. same broken logic.

Acie 04-13-2009 08:52 AM

It is Doug.

Speaking of broken logic...

c'mon snooch. On offense, at least 90% of the fouls he draws are when he takes it inside. Everyone knows that.

Bosh is the greatest
LeBron got nothing on Bosh

Bosh=The true King

Really?

Beacuse all of the little fanboys like to say we should get player x or player y because he gets to the line, but surely it's all from jumpshots too then.

Better yet let's get Hassan Adams, I hear he gets to the line. Probably could be our starting 2.

LX 04-13-2009 09:21 AM

Yes indeedy - Bosh gets so many calls on those jumpshots that he gets left open to take, when guys play off him as the only way to defend his drive.:giggle:

LX 04-13-2009 09:32 AM

Even on the Fantasy show on NBA-TV, Bosh made it as the number 3 PF on numbers alone. And 14th in the league overall. Not bad for an up and down year.

I'd still love to see a season unhampered by injury. The only question to me is whether that is likely, or whether knees will more likely than not crop up with problems.

Alot that I see are of of dishoffs when he has his man pinned or when he grabs an offensive board.

It appears to me that the most of them come from when he goes inside as opposed to when he takes the ball inside.

Either way a foul is a foul.

I just dont agree with the thought process that because you get fouled you must be going to the basket.

Belsius 04-13-2009 09:44 AM

He does settle for jump-shots more than he should, but still thats not hes biggest flaw. His problem is that too frecuently he takes too long to make decisions and when he drives the defense is already set an prepared for him. Also he should pass more from the double teams. I think he has gotten better at that this year, lets hope he keeps improving.

Snooch 04-13-2009 09:44 AM

Why am I getting slagged because I disagreed with Doug fucking Smiths logic. :suspicious:

Just because I said that alot of his fouls are coming off a high combination of Jumpers, offensive rebounds, getting the pass after working to get inside. Even getting fouled after securing the rebound on the defensive end at the end of games.

Either way it is very good, it just doesnt mean that it is a direct correlation to the amount of times he drives the ball in himself. I would say that at least 50 or 60 percent of those fouls are coming from that but not 90 or 100

Ugo Ferst 04-13-2009 09:59 AM

so he gets fouled on boards and jumpers more the anybody in the league i guess?? Honestly, he prob gets fouled on his jumper 3% of the time lol

Snooch 04-13-2009 10:09 AM

About every single offensive rebound he gets leads to him being fouled.

About every single time he rolls in to the basket off the pick and roll and receives the pass from the pg results in him being fouled.

Its totally not inconceivable.

Need to get past the fact that I said some fouls are off of jumpers.

Gurk 04-13-2009 10:26 AM

Nice we accomplished something this season. WoooHooooooooooo :sigh:

m5racer 04-13-2009 10:32 AM

Well it sounds like bosh knows how to draw fouls, just becuase he has gone to the free throw line 599 doesnt mean he is actually always inside. Dam doug is a moron. I guess i dont watch the games, which will show bosh taking way more jumpers then drives. Good work there doug :reporter:

Ugo Ferst 04-13-2009 10:38 AM

again, karl malone took more jumpers then drives too..... most great pf's do...... wow, a revelation

Doug doesn't watch them either apparently and certainly not from courtside in press row.

I don't know why Doug gets flamed so much for stuff he says in his blog. He's more qualified to write a Raps Blog than anyone out there...

Yup. In the last handful of games it seems as though Bosh is paying special attention to moving the ball and finding open teammates. He had a nice behind the back pass and a no-look dish off on Friday that actually had me doing double takes.

IF your trying to say bosh isent shooting more then driving, then maby you need to watch a few more games. The bosh i know takes 10 jumpers first, then if they dont fall, he will throw in a drive or two. Come on, just beucase he has been to the line the most does not me he is the player that is driving/in the paint all the time. To me it sounds like bosh knows how to draw the fouls. Concider the fact that in some games he gets to the line more then the rest of the team should says something about his ability to draw the foul
