Default Bosh for Amare, would ya?

Tony Mejia from CBS Sports discusses that the Suns may be open to dealing Amare because he continues to get frustrated because he feels that he isn't the focal point for the Suns offense. They fear that he might opt out of his current deal following the 09-10 season, so rumours are abound that they might see what other teams would offer to get him.

Why I mentioned "Bosh for Amare" is because Mejia feels it would have to be a player like Bosh that the Suns would get in return if they decided to deal Amare anytime soon.

So, that being said .... would ya?

Sources around the league have told CBSSports.com that there are internal discussions being held in Phoenix regarding the availability of star center Amare Stoudemire, who can opt out of his current deal following the 2009-10 season. According to sources, there is one faction within the organization willing to deal the two-time All-Star, while another is dead set against it.

This season, Stoudemire is blocking shots with a regularity we've never seen from him. He has blocked at least one shot in every game since Nov. 28, and his current average of 2.2 is easily the highest of his six seasons.

While Stoudemire has improved as a defender, whispers that his increasing frustration with not being the focal point of the team's fast-paced offense have become a distraction -- and could be a reason some within the organization would be willing to move him if the right offer comes along.

Shawn Marion asked for a trade in the offseason, but the Suns have been more than satisfied with his professional approach. He has been as consistent as ever, again leading the team in rebounding despite playing away from his natural position of small forward while also serving as the team's defensive stopper, guarding everyone from point guards to power forwards. He's as invaluable as Steve Nash is to Phoenix's style.

Tuesday's disappointing 97-90 loss to the L.A. Clippers was the Suns' second in three games. It was also their lowest-scoring performance with Nash, Stoudemire and Marion all in the lineup since last year's Game 3 loss to the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs, the only game they dropped in that series.

Something is obviously amiss, and chemistry seems to be the major issue. So where does this leave Stoudemire? Even those in favor of shipping him out know he's among the most feared big men in the game, so getting back equal value is a must, regardless of how badly the Suns need a facelift. If GM Steve Kerr is swayed to make a move, it will definitely take someone along the lines of Memphis' Pau Gasol or Toronto's Chris Bosh to get a deal accomplished.

Not a chance. Amare is a great player but he's not a franchise player. He needs a Nash or another star power to lead and he just goes about his thing. IF we trade Bosh, we need another franchise player/leader to take his place and Amare is not that guy. I think Bosh is more versatile as well, particulary on defence where he's improving compared to Amare who other than shot blocking is completely anemic.

no way - amare is explosive and all that, but he has the problems with the knees + character issues. CB is so much more when taken as a package ...

Amare is great, but IMO so much of what he does is because of Nash. Bosh is smarter and despite what people say he's a every bit the warrior Amare is.

well, I know this guy who's Amare's surgically removed siamese twin and he say's that Amare will never play in Canada - so based on that alone i wouldn't entertain the trade.

nah, seriously, no way would i deal Bosh for Amare. Bad knees are just that. bad knees. Add to that that Bosh is younger, constantly imporiving and already dominating games in his own right, i'd pass.

Bosh is just as much of a 2nd option as Amare is on an upper echelon team, don't kid yourselves. The difference is we havent seen what Amare is capable of as the #1 option in the post yet, but he's added a ton of moves since his rookie year, and one could easily argue his offensive game is ahead of Bosh's(Amare's jumper is better and he takes it to the basket a lot more frequently, and he's more explosive). Both suck on defence though. I wouldnt do it right now because I'd like to see if Amare's knee can continue to hold up one more year, but if it was on the table next year it is something you'd definately have to look hard at. You need a guy like Amare who takes it to the rim with authority in the playoffs. His performance against the Spurs(39 PPG) is something Bosh will never come close to matching, and most of his points WERE off ISO plays in that series, and we'd never have to face the Spurs i nthe playoffs anyway unless we made it to the finals.

Pre injury I'd do it for sure, now, it's a tough one, in a year if Amare stays healthy, yes.

OK, hypothetically speaking then. What if, Bargnani was all that and can of SPAM and was able to play the PF spot well on a consistant basis? Not putting up Bosh-like numbers, but decent ones. Would you then deal Bosh for Amare and then have a fierce front court of Amare and Bargani? Or would you still hold onto Bosh hoping that Bargnani will eventually grasp the centre position?

The problem with your Amare/Andrea scenario is that Amare isnt' a real center either... only on a team like Phoenix so I'd stick with our current lineup of Bosh and Andrea.

No freaking way. Too much of an injury risk, he's never lead a team by himself, and he does not create offense for himself that much.

Outside of a handful of teams, there really aren't that many true centres in this league. In this day and age, Amare is more than adequate to be an impact centre in this league. But yes, he isn't a true centre ala Shaq, D12, Bogut, Big Z, etc., but I'd still make him a all-star at that position right now. JMO

I'll say this till I'm blue in the face. Amare is one of the most overrated players in the NBA. Is he good? Yes. But, not worth Bosh. The only, ONLY two PF's I would entertain in a trade if need be would be D12 and Al Horford. Beyond that? no.

This may be the weirdest post from you I've seen. You'd consider trading him for Horford but not Amare??? Are you crazy? Horford will never be the inside scorer Amare is, nor good enough defensively to become better overall. Like it or not, Amare is a gamechanger when healthy and not in foul trouble. He's built for playoff style basketball. Horford won't even reach Boozer's level. You're overrating Horford BIGTIME.

I'd say no - but if Andrea has to be a PF or bust, then maybe yeah. That decision will have to come at a later date though. Right now it has to be no.

If Amare is so good and not vastly improved by Steve's play please tell me Phoenix's record with him in the line-up with Nash out vs. Nash in and Amare out.

But don't forget we have a pg that is better than Nash right here! That is what the standard line about Jose is at about now isn't it?

Jose is so good that one of his errant passes against Sacremento landed in the lap of a wheelchair bound youngster courtside who caught the ball and immediately sprung up and started walking.
