Default Bosh adjusting to "new style"

The Raptors changing their offensive philosophy to one of up-tempo running the floor, yet still with Chris Bosh as their franchise player may not generate the same head-scratching skepticism as Shaquille O'Neal going to the run-and-gun Suns, but with the Raptors clearly planning to maintain their new style, where does that leave Bosh?

More at home in a half-court offence, if Bosh doesn't buy into the transition and return to his first-half numbers, could the clock be counting down to his free agency after the 2010 season?

It would seem that pushing the ball up the floor, looking for fast-break points as the first option does not feed into Bosh's strengths. Coach Jay Triano disagrees with that easy perception of his star's future.

"I've talked to him a little bit more," Triano admitted. "It's been hard with him because he's been (injured). I told (Chris), `Run and play as hard as you can for as long as you can and I'll get a sub. But don't try and pace yourself to go 40 minutes because otherwise we'll be plodding. I thought what he did in New York and was much better on Sunday ... shorter minutes in shorter spurts. We keep asking him `How's your leg?' He says, `My leg is fine. My lungs are burning.' He'll get used to it."

Triano believes that in a short time Bosh could learn to take advantage of the new up-tempo style and get back to the numbers he had been posting before being hobbled by injury. One 30-point, 15-rebound game could cure all.

Why do we have to be the Suns East?

Why do we have to play uptempo?

What the fuck did the Suns ever win?

Defense wins championships!

Jesus!

I read somewhere else (probably here) that the old way was to find Jose after a rebound and run. Clearly that didnt produce any fastbreak points as Jose is NOT a risk taker or fast. Now the rebounder is encouraged (hopefully Marion or AP) to run the the floor.

That was the difference against the Knicks2. It got us easy points and tired the Knicks.

Be great to see an exciting game played here once in a while.

defense does win championships but if you not going to win any titles might as well put on a show for the fans

Jesus could help the Raps win a title

Fine...Suns East B.

I'd be more pleased as a fan knowing we were working towards building a championship contender than having them "put on a show."

But I'm probably in the majority here, since I enjoy the way real teams like the Spurs, the Jazz and the pre-Iverson Pistons play.

Also you might as well work towards your strength. Clearly the Raps aren't the greatest defensive team.

Thats not why at ALL man. It has to do with the actul running of a fast break. No running team relies on getting the ball to the PG right away, good running teams, grab boards, and hit the outlet imediately, with all 5 players busting as and filling lanes. Toronto as a team has fallen into a rut of always finding the PG because they were set up not to run. To protect the ball.

It's pretty simple to see, I just wonder if Toronto can hold that pace, or if our Star player, CB-U-toob, can run with his knees.

It would be nice to see, but it's will get ugly at times.

nor is their offense very good in the half court set.

I hear what you're saying Acie and i agree with you in some regards, but damn this team ain't getting it done the other way.

when you're the worst running team in the NBA, it's high time some emphasis was put into the team's weaknesses.

ap and marion both brought the ball up court more often than i've ever seen from raptor swing players on sunday. it was a refreshing change. it doesn't hurt to have jose fill that corner 3 ball spot either.

not at al trane, I really liked it, it looked like old fashioned balling. 5 guys getting going and all 5 showing that they have more to them then just some role.

I like it.

And to be honest, I like Calderon as that kick out guy the most.

That's been one change with Triano since day one, having other players run the ball up the court when they have opportunities. It just works much better when you got Marion in the mix instead of moon.

well I hope it sticks, if not, I guess I'll have to be happy with enjoying it against the knicks the other day.

Actually having other players bring the ball up the court is a new philosphy just implemented this last game against the knicks (post Moon era). Previous to this last game almost every Raptor possesion had the pg bring the ball up the court. Don't blame Moon for something that never happened while he was here.

Actually, it's not, it's something Jay has been urging the team to do since he started as head coach.

By the way, I know this because I'm an intelligent basketball fan who has seen it for myself with my own eyes, not because I drew a few assumptions from a couple articles I've read over the past few days which is clearly what you're doing.

And what am I blaming Moon for exactly?

No he hasn't! Other then AP, the only ones usually bringing the ball up the court were the PG's! I never saw Moon/Bosh/Bargnani bringing the ball up the court unless it was a broken play/steal.

You may not of been seeing it, but it was happening.

Seeing Marion pull down the rebound and either make the quick outlet pass up the wing or push the ball up the court himself makes me so incredibly happy.

There was one play in Marion's first game where he grabbed a nice board over a Cleveland big-man, pushed the ball up the floor and proceeded to throw an alley-oop to AP. It was beautiful.

Bosh and Calderon seem obsessed playing halfcourt, sometimes it seems like he is lazy and doesn't want to run,

another thing his behavior during run and gun moments suggests that he doesn't believe in that type of game

calderon is actually scared throwing lob passes and this guys plays in the nba making 8 mill a year
