Bosh: 13 Hour Flight, Macao Like Vegas, McDonalds In China!

Just an update on Bosh's blog. They've arrived in China now in preparation for the Olympics.

The city of Macao is beautiful. They say it's like Las Vegas and to be honest it's kind of close, but there's nothing like Vegas. They have flashing lights and gambling (I don't like gambling anyway), but the building aren't as flamboyant and they really don't have a strip like Las Vegas Blvd.

I hope we don't have practice today because this has been an exremely long travel day, but I have a feeling we are. We don't play until Thurday and Friday so we have a little bit of practice time in the days between. Its early afternoon so I'm sure the coaches feel that we can run out the Jetlag. I've heard that from so many coaches. Me personally, I don't think it works.

On a brighter note, I think I'm going to have a good time here because they have a few Americanized resrurants and a few spots that look kind of familiar to me. I just hope their McDonalds is the same as it is in the States and a couple of people speak English. If not, I'm in trouble because my Mandarin isn't that great.

I'm sure some of you guys saw the game we played against Canada a couple of days ago. It was fun to get back out there and play some good ball. Even though we won in a convincing fashion, I think we didn't play our best ball. We can do a better job of playing defense and taking care of the ball. We have to do those things if we want to wear those Gold Medals when it's all said and done. That's the challenge of the whole thing, but we can and we will get the job done.

Well... This is my first official day in China! I have my XBOX and movies so I'm ready. HOLLA!!!

I like him and all that. But going to a country like China to eat McDonalds is pretty sad.

Any athlete eating McDonalds is pretty sad...

Superjudge 07-28-2008 09:27 AM

It's his first day in China, and he's excited about playing Xbox and watching movies.

Typical Bosh :haha:

Uh, what would you guys do if you were playing a high level basketball tournament in China? Hit the clubs? It's not Vegas.

I wouldn't even want to go outside and breathe the air. XBox and movies at the hotel would sound great to me.

thats more or less what I was thinking.

He has all his life to play XBOX and eat McDonalds. I doubt he goes back to China very often. Theres a lot of things to see there.

Superjudge 07-28-2008 12:13 PM

heh, some guys eh!

video is killing more than the radio star

Guys, he is in Macao, there isn't much to see there as it's basically a "designated gambling zone". Used to be quite a center for piracy in that region too. ;)

Not trying to defend staying at the hotel playing XBox, but I'd rather see him doing that then doing what Macao is billed for. In other words - he is not in Tibet. ;)

macao, my bad. that said, there has to be something better than xbox, no?

I would too, but I don't have an entire country relying on me to bring home a gold medal.

He can experience the culture if he wants, but he's there to play. If he really wanted to take a cultural trip he could go on his own time.

I'm sure the whole team will partake in some touristy stuff, but given all of the alleged environmental and safety issues that China is dealing with in respect to these Olympics, I don't think Team USA will want any of it's players out and about too much.

This team doesn't stay in the Olympic Village for safety reasons, and seeing as safety concerns are rampant in China right now, I wouldn't be surprised if XBox at the hotel has been recommended.
