Good for Charlotte. The franchise and the city deserve this finally.

Good for the Bobcats. I'd love to see an opening round matchup of Orlando and the Cats. It would be really entertaining. Could be an upset in the making.

Wow, a defense minded coach with a proven background turns team around. Toronto has more talent and depth, but Charotte plays defense. Look at Miami, they had a rookie coach last year, and Miami has made the playoffs the last two years. After Wade, the team has mediocre players. However mediocre players who play defense with a young coach under the influence of Pat Riley & Van Gundy. When you pick a leader, he must have experience with a proven track record. Triano has none of that. After 80 games, players still don't play defense and miss assignments. I agree with Jack Armstrong, Raptors have the fifth most talented team in the East. Give me Larry Brown or Erik Spoelstra and the Raptors make the playoffs.

When has Colangelo's teams ever played defense? He needs a guy that's going to implement his high-scoring teams. That's why Triano was brought in.

Congratulations, Raptors are the fifth highest scoring team in the NBA, what does that get you? There has to be some type of defense? Even the good days with Phoenix, BC had stoppers like Shawn Marion, Jason Kidd, Antonio Mcydess, Raja Bell, and Joe Johnson.

Exactly, in terms of efficiency those Phoenix teams you mention were actually top half of the league defensively. Yes the team gave up more points than most teams but it was due to the higher pace and thus inflated number of possessions. The mentality may have been to outscore the opponent more than stop them but they had guys that could play good man defense and they all played in a system that people bought into..and it was successful.

If not for a stupid move by Amare in the SAN series they would have made the finals with that roster and style and who knows what would have happened.

Nobody wants to play the Cats in the first round. That team D's up every play. I hope they get to play Boston!

Erick Spoelstra is your proven choice? lol.... c'mon, it's not all coaching... also, you must agree that Turk was a good choice then?

Turk was a terrible acquisition. However, he looked fine last year in Orlando. However, look at the Miami & Toronto roster from top to bottom, you can't tell me Toronto is more talented. There is a reason Miami is second in less points allowed and No.1 in opponent FG%:

From Pat Riley to Stan Van Gundy to Erick Spoelstra, the teaching and emphasis on defense has been passed down.

Yes the Heat have a Top 3 player in the league. However, it does not explain why the team leads the league in lowest opponent FG%, and is second in lowest opponent scoring. The Heat have one of the top defenses in the league (FG% and points allowed). Wade is a great player and closer, but the team defense was set by the coach and his staff. Dude, Spoelstra has made the team make the playoffs in two straight years, and maintained one of the top defenses in the NBA.
