Thumbs down Bill Simmons: Overpaid Turkoglu will have disappointing season

Quote:
New team, different offense, overpaid, can't be hidden as well on defense because he doesn't have a shot-blocker behind him, signs of decline last season, high expectations, bad karma from boning over the Blazers after a verbal agreement, the day-to-day frazzles of living in a Canadian city Ö my s--- detector is going off. Sorry, Raptor Truthers. I always trust the s--- detector. Just last week, it went off even as Balloon Boy's balloon was still floating through Colorado. Never fails me. I predict a surprisingly disappointing first season for him. And maybe even a goofy injury like plantar fasciitis or a partially torn hip labrum. Always gotta trust the s--- detector.

Lol, Bill Simmons: the queen of unfunny.

Honestly, I hate reading predictions, they mean nothing and get you all excited or disappointed for no reason.

If he plays well he'll be worth the money. If he shoots 41% like last year he won't.

To bad it looks like turk is a 41% kinda guy he shot that last year, and in 06-07 he shot 41% it was just the inbetween season when he got MIP that he shot like 45%

I think Turkoglu is a great player in a bad offense run by coach Jay Triano.

Triano hasn't run hardly any offense yet. It's a bit too soon to be saying it's bad.

It's too early to say anything regarding Turk in T.O. because there's so little to base it upon. I do think he was grossly overpaid (the typical Raptors premium that players get when they deign to play in Canada) but that's nothing new in this market.

I think we need to do well spending under the cap before we earn the chance to try and go over the cap and be a true contender. If you were MLSE would you approve going over the cap for this team when they're already underperforming?

Make the second round under the cap, earn the right to go over.

I have to say this to you reply, as long as you donít have the luck of the NYK i think spending over the cap would pretty much propel us right to the top 2-3 in the east with no question because we would be able to address more problems.... on the other hand i cant believe we look this shitty right now, if this team can stop getting injured and sick maybe they could practice and play more together

Question: Why didnít the Raptors start training camp earlier? Is there an NBA rule stating it can only start on a certain day? its obvious that this team needed at least another 2 weeks of "training camp" added to their pathetic 6 day run.

only logical way to spend over the cap is if you're in the title hunt
Orlando never spent over the cap until last year when they knew they could contend for a title, Raps can't do that yet
If you spend your money you have to be sure that you have the necessary playoff revenue coming in

not one player has EVER made less that the total numb er he was promised here in Toronto. It's the biggest fallacy out there.
