Bill Ingram: Lee is as good as Bosh

Quote:
Kahn in:
Three way trade Bosh to LAL, Big Al to Tor, Bynum to Min. LA wants Bosh, well everyone does, Min is trading one bad knee for another, but gaining the length and defence they need, and Toronto is for sure happy.

Bill Ingram:
Well Bynum is a true center, and would compliment Kevin Love. The knee is going to scare potential suitors. I don't think the Raps get too excited about Big Al...they can probably get David Lee, who is as good as Bosh. To me this is one of those deal Lakers fans dream about, but won't happen.
Quote:
alex in sudbury:
hey bill, love your chats. espn reported that the raps are going to clean house. what kind of value do players like turk jose and jack have around the league. thanks.
Bill Ingram:

Hard to see them moving Turk without taking back some horrible contract . . .Calderon and Jack have value - Jack has been well-liked on each of his NBA stops and is a solid reserve with starter potential. Calderon not as much, but he does have value. If they want to clean house, they'll find takers . . .but do they get better? Mo Williams has to be their prime target.
Quote:
Jesse in Toronto:
Read that BC is trying to clean house to prepare for keeping Bosh and him walking.Smart or another gamble? And if LA loses,do they run after Jose Calderon or a PG/SG?They need one baaaad!Another good player with Fish would go a long way?
Bill Ingram:

I do think the PG spot is going to be a paramount importance this summer . . .Fish isn't getting any younger, and they can't rely on anyone else. Not that Calderon is the answer, either. They should draft Mikhail Torrance and groom him behind Fish. BC obviously wants to keep Bosh, but I've been told by a source close to that situation that Bosh is all but gone. He's already left Toronto, just wants to know where to have the boxes shipped.
Quote:
Is there truth in the rumour that Jarrett Jack wants out, too?
Bill Ingram:

Jack wants to start, and frankly, he should start. The Raps were better with him starting than they were with Calderon. Unless the Raps can upgrade with someone like Mo Williams, Jack should be the starter.
Quote:
:
Is it possible that the rockets trade jordan hill, to the Raptors for their 13th pick and maybe a future pick, and then trade their 14th pick with that 13th pick to move into the top 3 for this years draft.
Bill Ingram:

I can tell you the Rockets like Hill's potential, but they would happily trade him if it meant moving up or getting Bosh. The Raptors have expressed interest in Hill before. Houston will be creative in their approach, as they're determined to move up and will do whatever it takes to do so.
Quote:
bill in houston:
maybe the rockets 1st target should be boozer and then david lee because it seemes like Bosh just wanna team up with either lebron or wade
Bill Ingram:

Bosh wants to get paid, first, and then to win. Miami's first choice is Amar'e, as is Houston's, should the Suns fail to re-sign him. I would take Lee over Boozer, but either would be fine with me .

Would Chicago accept a package of Bosh for Noah/picks/cap space/cash? Noah would fit perfectly raps as Bosh would with Chicago...
Bill Ingram:

The Bulls have been unwilling to entertain moving Noah, but if that's what it took to land Bosh you have to believe they'd at least talk about it . . .they can't afford to strike out this summer . . .
^^ This would be nice

Miami's first choice is Bosh, then Amare
I believe someone in Miami said that

and Lee and Bosh are comparable in stats, also, Randolph is as good as Bosh and Lee

Lee's stats are only comparable in D'Antoni's pick and roll system, with him being the #1 option. That does not mean that Bosh = Lee in talent. The knicks have no options so Lee sees a lot of ball. Remember, he was a restricted F.A. last summer and no one gave him love. And Randolph has significant character concerns

Bosh is a top 5 player at his position in the same group as Dirk, Tim, Gasol, and KG.

Lee did get decent stats before D'antoni arrived, and he was a restricted FA last season and teams knew an offer would be matched unless overvalued therefore they resisted tying up their potential FA money for a week while NY pondered to match...

D'Antoni joined the Knicks in 2008.
The year before (07-08) Lee averaged 10.8 PPG/8.4 REB/.4 BLK.

D'Antoni Year 1 (08-09) -- 16 PPG/11.7 REB/ .3 BLK.
D'Antoni Year 2 (09-10) -- 20.2 PPG/11.7 REB/ .5 BLK.

You're right Lee did have average stats, D'Antoni only added 6 and 10 PPG - D'OH

what a simplified view of statistics... I'm sure you must be Ivy league...

he didn't add 6 and 10... maybe 6 and then 4 more. Secondly, it's not like D'antoni added those points, and Lee was fully developed in 08....

If simple statistics are too tangible for you, Mr. Carp, how about ideological ones. If Bosh's value was on par with Lee's, than a Bosh for Lee trade would make sense for both parties. By holding onto Bosh the Raps have taken a significant risk, that CB will simply walk. They chose risk instead of having Lee under contract.

I mentioned earlier that Lee was a RFA last year. You say that no team wanted to offer a sheet b/c they knew the Knicks would match. Do you believe no team would chance a max contract on Bosh in the same situation?

it's not even like situations.... one unrestricted, one not. Offers made would be made differently when not being max offers.

I agree they chose to hold Bosh, but for several reasons, not just for trade value.

OK - so Bosh and Lee are so close to being the same player. And we all hate how Bosh has not won enough. Anyone seen Lee winning anything?

If these guys change uniforms straight up, the Knicks get significantly better, and the Raptors become the Knicks. I like Lee's offensive rebounding, but beyond that he was arguably the worst of their starters defensively, while Bosh was the best of the starters defensively.

No, Lee even being that close to Bosh talent wise. Mind you I'd take Lee over Blatch!

He admits himself that he is a bad team defender. There is not other starter outside of Bosh that was able to defend more than his own man.
