IMO I would like to resign Patterson, Vasquez and Lowry and sign Gasol and Lance Stevenson. I don't mind giving a good payday to Gasol for no more then three years and Lance whatever reasonable

Perkins for the right price. I know you all hate him but he's a better defender than Hayes and has size.

Huh, 1 out of 2.3 attempts... never would have thought that seeing as every time the team actually needed a 3 when it counted he seemed to miss them. I found him infuriating when the pressure was on - and a big giant let down.

If we re-sign Lowry, Patterson, Vasquez, we will not have cap space. Gasol and Stephenson will each want 10M+. It's simply not likely we even have a shot at ONE of them. In theory we could do a S+T, but I doubt the Pacers or Lakers play along (they'd have to take back some expiring contracts).

Perkins makes 9.4M next season. We could swing a Salmons for Perk trade at the draft, OKC clears a lot of cap space. I'd hope we'd ask for a pick from them or something, as that would put us up against the tax after re-signing our guys. DAL's 2014 pick would be great.

Would you rather spend that on a 3&D wing with size or Perk?

I'd rather spend that on a wing and draft a player like Payne

Oh. I thought his contract expired this year. 9.4 is just way to much. It doesn't change much for 2015 though.

I think it's still a good idea - that's the exact sort of contract Ujiri should be looking for to fill the gaps - one year, probably overpaid (so the other team is willing to trade the player for non-assets), keeps 2015 cap free and fills a role in a year when we won't have cap space anyway.

Well, we can't "spend" it, not on a free agent. We can only trade for it. I don't know if there are any similar (6-9M, 1 year left) contracts in the league for 3+D guys that teams would want out from. I'm certainly open to either - the 3+D SF is a bigger hole right now.

Don't know what it would cost to pry him away from the Warriors, but I really like Draymond Green.

They would never give him up - he's a 20 MPG effective sub making the minimum.

And I don't want Ujiri moving real assets to fill holes right now.

I don't disagree, but Green would fit well with our team, has a lot of upside and 2 years of playoff experience. He has the attributes we are looking for, and the other options out there are somewhat less appealing. Sometimes you need to pay for what you need, just not overpay.

Now is not the time to be paying that price. There will be opportunities aplenty next deadline and summer. And trying to pry away an asset like Green (controlled, low cost, high effectiveness) usually requires paying a premium such that it is not worth it.

If we can manage it just moving our pick or something, but I can't even imagine GSW accepting that.

I edited my post while you were typing yours, and I don't disagree.

But this is GSW and ownership just axed a 51 win coach, so you never know what they might say. For a player like Green. our pick may be enough. I wouldn't pay more.

I think the worst of our 2 picks (so worst of nuggets, knicks raptors) is worth trading. I would assume if all goes to plan we would not want 2 rookies same year anyway. That's not going to get us much but its something to add to Fields or Novac to make a trade possible.

True, although it is sometimes valuable to have multiple picks the same year if you want to trade up in the draft.

But I agree - if something really good turns up, moving one or both of our 2016 picks is an option. But it'd have to be a really important piece.

The current culture being developed, and the personality of the core players gives Ujiri so many options. I'll be excited regardless of who he picks up just because it's an environment where young players can really grow and be a part of the team or where older vets can really be heard and mentor a good group of younger players.

Here's a trade that will get everyone screaming:

Toronto trades DeRozan and Ross to Golden State for Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes and Draymond Green.
