Default Biedrins for Bargnani ... Would You?

No offense to Bargnani, but I would in a heartbeat.

What did the scouts like about Andrea that they didn't like about Andris? I know they were picked in different draft classes, but Shaun Livingston, Josh Childress, Rafael Araķjo and Luke Jackson, all went before Biedrins. I didn't hear a lot of noise about him, did you? What would Brian Colangelo argue in defence of Andrea vs Andris in terms of potential?

Andrew R, Halifax

A: They would likely argue that Andreaís offensive potential out-weighs Biedrinsís defensive skills.

Would I make that trade? Iíd have to give it serious consideration but Biedrins really doesnít do anything offensively and is one of the worst free throw shooters in the league, which means you canít play him down the stretch of a close game. Thatís a huge factor in detracting from his skills.

And you canít compare draft classes like that, itís ridiculous.

Biedrins, when he was drafted, was a raw, raw, raw, raw teenager and teams shied away from him. Given the start to his career, I canít blame them. I know he was on Torontoís radar and would have been an exponentially better pick than the one they made.

I would do it in 2 seconds. Beidrins is a good rebounder, just what the Raps need. Although Andrea has gotten better since last year I would still do this trade

Absolutely, positively. Biedrins is a stud, and *actually knows his role on the team*. Bargnani is a talented but clueless player, stuck between his urge to play on the outside, and the fact that he's most effective playing inside out.

Plus Biedrins is a better defender.

But Bargs has more room to grow than Biedris.

Bargs wil FAR outway Biedrins on offense.

That being said, Kaps wouldnt get Al.

How do you figure when Biedrins is younger. Maybe you've seen something that I haven't but offensively Bargnani hasn't shown any improvements in 3 years. Defensively he has, I'm tired of people using the "he has room to grow" excuse. It's getting old.

Biedrins >> Bargnani for now and likely in the future.

Hardly a hater .... just calling it as I see it.

Defensively he absolutely has which I'm happy, offensively he's done nothing at all. If anything its worse now that Sam has taken away his beloved 3 pointer.

Absolutely, Golden State wouldn't though.

Biedrins' value is closer to Jose's...

For the record, I wanted to trade TJ, Bargnani, Moon, and a 1st for Biedrins this summer. And I still think GS would turn it down.

Kay ... that's a little ridiculous if you think Biedrins is worth that much. :cmw34:

He's 22 and putting up 17.5/13.5/1.7 this year. As opposed to JO who's 30, getting paid 22 mil and averaging 11/6. With Biedrins we build around him, Jose, and Bosh for the next 10 years instead of 2, plus in that deal we'd still have Rasho's expiring to move for supporting players.

Again though, GS would turn that deal down I believe.

Sorry MVP, but you're delusional if you think Toronto would give away almost a third of their roster for someone like Biedrins. I like him, but your proposal is borderline comedic.

O'Neal is better than Biedrins imo, when he gets 100% at least. Biedrins is in a great situation with GSW, where you have a lot of players who can create shots, so he can concentrate on rebounds and defense. With toronto he will not be nearly as effective.
I would not trade Bargnani until I know for sure what his value is. Right now his value is quite low - and based on his playing so far this season, it can only go up. He looks much better on defense, beyond the blocks - I'm almost positive that by the end of the season, his value will be increased dramatically.

That being said, right now GSW would laugh at that trade, biedrins is already an established player and he's young, why would they trade for Andreea - they already have enough offense. Bargnani will never be as good as biedrins defensively, so for them it's a no brainer.

If you consider current needs for Raptors I would do the trade, but under different circumstances I still believe Andrea has plenty of room to became better than is right now.

I wouldn't. Andrea's game is more well rounded and there's still more potential. I don't see Biedrins' game having much more upside that what we see now.

Are you guys mad? Biedrins is one of the best rebounders in the league and would be exactly what we need beside Bosh defensively (I know having JO here makes his place seem more irrelevant, but if we were going to get Biedrins we'd have to do it in the summer when TJ was available). And he's 22. Jose/Bosh/Biedrins would be elite.
