It's just nice to be talking about 3 prospects, on the Raps in general. IMO

Let's not forget Jerryd Bayless and James Johnson either. Both young guys who have been in the league now for a few season, but still have lots of room to grow.

Derozan and Davis aren't really prospects. They've already proved that they're studmuffins.

I'm still waiting for Carlos Rogers and Sharone Wright to hit their potential.... if they do, look out!

Maybe, but they will never reach the talent level of one Michael Doleac. Never.

It's a shame the Raptors didn't go after him when they had the chance.

I'd never seen the sarcastic side of your posts before.

out of the three demar is by far the better nba player right now but val is a young 7', maybe a better "prospect" because I have no idea what calibre of nba player he can become

I'm biased, but best prospect is Valančiūnas, without doubt. If the pool was "Who's best right now" then ofcourse DD first, ED second, Val 3rd, but that's not the case in this thread.
Valanciunas is one of the best players in the world, if not the best, at his age, for couple years now. Demar and Davis aren't, weren't. Everyone agreed that Valanciunas is the best prospect in the draft this year. I don't really see how can you not vote for Valanciunas. But yeah, I am biased.

Kleiza > Valanciunas > DD > ED > Bargnani

For now I would say DD. There isn't much to base this on and is all just a crapshoot. Although I need to see ED play a second year to really say with any certainty that DD is the one with a higher ceiling.

DeRozan is the least limited athletically. However, he's no Vince. And he's no T-Mac in terms of bb IQ. Heck, it's not the same neighbourhood.
So, I'm not sure he's anything beyond a marginal All Star - if he even gets there.

Davis is solid, but to me he's the 4th best PF in his own draft class (after Favors, Patterson, Monroe) so I don't expect him to be elite.
Granted, I'm not a genuine fan of the Raptors and I've seen more Rockets and Patterson last year than I've seen Davis. So I may be biased.

So I'll say Jonas is the best prospect.
I'd (like to) expect that Jonas will make the All Star game at least a few times. As a Lithuanian, I've seen Big Z's start over here in Europe, then I've seen him get injured and still makes a few All Star games. I think Jonas is on a far more promising start so far.
He's no Dwight and not even DeMarcus Cousins athletically. But his size and mobility combo is still rare, and when you couple it with his touch and intangibles, it's even more impressive.
He's literally 40 pounds and better defensive fundamentals away from being a Marc Gasol - and there's no reason why he can't get there or to multiple other scenarios.

That's a bit unfair. Americans never send their best prospects to FIBA U tournaments.

3 teams did not, one of them twice.

Either way, I think the franchise player for the Raptors will probably end up in 2012 draft. Anthony Davis, maybe Barnes or McAdoo, Drummond. That draft seems loaded, and I'd bet good money Raps are in top 5 again.

DD, Jonas, Ed. Its clear to me. How can you underestimate DeMar?
He averaged like 20ppg. after the all star break and he was a 21 year old sophomore. DD keeps improving his range and since he has 3 point range, he will be a goat.

How often has he played against them? How many Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant do you see in euroball? A big part of being a good C is providing good interior defense. Until you've played against the Lebrons Kobe's D wade's you haven't really proven anything.

Add to that the much more gueling NBA schedule compared to Europe and until he adds pounds and actually plays in the NBA at the toughest position to adapt to, we probably shouldn't anoint him the best prospect.

Not only that, but another aspect is playing good defense without fouling. Essentially a must in the NBA. Davis has proven he can do this, Jonas not so much.
