Default Best 8th picks since 1990

Ranked by win shares over the course of a career:

1) Andre Miller
2) Brian Grant
3) Vin Baker
4) Kerry Kittles
5) Jamal Crawford
6) Larry Hughes
7) Rudy Gay
8) Chris Wilcox
9) Channing Frye
10) Adonal Foyle

Other notables/still actives: TJ Ford, Brandon Wright, Rafael Araujo, Brandon Knight, Bo Kimble.

Intended to be an exercise in providing hope, didn't quite turn out that way. Better start pulling out our lucky charms for the lottery.

that is why i always thought we needed to trade for iguodala, because he was the 9th pick and he should've always been a raptor instead of araujo

I was watching the Nuggets games and the reason he's so far up is because he's missed three games in his entire career. :cookie:

yeah, amazing isn't it.

if he had missed 50-100 games in his career, he'd still be top 20.

agreed.

i had the same thought. Looked at a list of best 2nd round picks of last 10 years the other day and it was a sick list! players you wouldn't mind taking at #8!

I may do a 8-10th version of it. To do an "anyone after 7th" post is largely worthless in my opinion. This is more of a realistic expectation for a late lottery pick, not to set unrealistic expectations by looking at all the draft gems of the past 20 years.

true, we should look at players that most teams consider to be the likely 8th-16th pick area but enough "gems" have been uncovered in the past to prove that not being blinded by hype/going against the grain a bit and good scouting can/will lead to good picks.

still stunning that we selected a plotter 8th overall when we could go out and sign the same guy in free agency

gray vs araujo, gray wins,

who knows chris Bosh could still be here if we had, igoudala, chris bosh, andrea bargnani, demar derozan and Calderon as a starting lineup is lethal, plus igoudala could just focus on defense, rebounding and passing which he excels at

If we get Iggy then, we wouldn't be in the position to grab DD.

So you think by just adding iggy to the 09-10 raps team would make us lethal?
They were 40-42 adding Iggy would have made us a 7th - 8th seed.

I wish we had the 8th pick in 2006, instead of the no.1 pick.
