gordon would be nice, and we could get him for 8 millions, since nobody will pay him more than that. We can let parker and graham expire and then sign marion and gordon for 8 millions each. then we could use our exceptions to sign parker, delfino and graham.

While the backcourt has some defensive issues, very few teams have two stars in the backcourt, and marion will probably take on the primary scorer. Hopefully we could overcome that by outscoring the oppostion ...

you can't renounce players to get under the cap and expect to receive the league exemptions made for teams over the cap.

If we can somehow trade Bosh for Rip/Johnson and a pick we would save about 2 million in payroll. If we could resign Marion for 9 million per and resign AP for 3.5 million per and resign Joey for 3 million per, that would leave about 11 million in cap space and with that we could try to sign Boozer.

Jose/Ukic/Banks
Rip/AP/Kaps
Marion/Joey/Draft
Boozer/Johnson/Hump/
Bargs/O'Bryant/Draft

So Boozer is going to leave his $12.7 mil player option for $11 mil

yup.

He would definately consider it, seeing how cap is going down in 2010 and he would be competing for dollars with all the other big names.

A contract starting at around 11 per with annual raises would without a doubt be tempting

don't use that knowledge, ever. it's wrong. the cap for this season is 58 million.

without signing joey, parker and marion we're sitting at around 44 million

so joey for 3 million = 47 million
parker for 3.5 million = 50.5 million
marion for 9 million = 59.5 million
first rounder 2 million = 61.5 million

is the cap going to raise 13 million so we can sign boozer?

If BC re-signs Marion and goes over the cap, he is then allowed to spend up to the tax threshold (71 Million) + Sign an MLE! This is according to Brian Colangelo.

learn about the salary cap, jeff. seriously.

that isn't according to BC, and if it is, i'd be pretty worried that he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about either.

BC Said we would have upwards of 23 million to spend this offseason.

technically he could sign an fa first, and then go over the cap to sign players for whom he has bird rights. once the cap is crossed, however it is crossed, he can't sign fa's without bird rights.

you'd have to renounce them in order to receive the cap space to sign a non-roster free agent.

jackson's right. Each player has a cap hold, and if you don't renounce them that hold goes on the books until said player is resigned.

And the threshhold is going to be closer to 69 mil this summer, not 71.
