The consensus?

Marco Belinelli, in a tight race over Reggie Evans.

Each brings something this team needed.

The word is Belinelli’s got a flare for the game, just a style that excites.

Evans? He’s as tough as a $2 steak. And tough is not something this team had in abundance last year. Or the year before. Or the year before. Or the year before, now that I think of it.

Matt Devlin was just on the fan and said that at practice this morning, Belinelli was impressive and said he was hitting shots from everywhere and made some great passes and showing that he can go to the rim.

On another good note, he said the practice was mostly about defence and that it seems to be the teams main focus...to try and get everyone to be more intense on the defensive end.

Belinelli is one of those keys to this season.

If he can reach that potential, that ability to be a Manu type of player for us, would be absolutely massive and something that could push us over the edge and be a legit contending team.

If he's inconsistent and too much of a Carlos Delfino clone, then we'll be in a similar position that we were in during the 2007-08 season.

theres a poll on raptors.com which also asks who do you think will be the surprise, how the hell are you suppose to answer that.they think bellinelli will be the surprise of the preseason they already expect him to do good so you cant really answer this question you would have to be surprised after preseasons done wouldn't you?

Polls are predictions/opinions, which can't happen AFTER it's done.
