Default Belinelli Starting @ SG?

It's just ESPN's depth chart, but do people think it'll happen this way in October? Should Marco get the starting nod over Demar or let their performances in training camp dictate that?

I'd go with "no". Wright would be a better fit - enough scorers out there in the starting 5. Hopefully DeRozan is starting by the end of the season, but maybe if he's good enough in training camp/pre-season he'll start right away.

Jack is the Raptors' best 2-guard but it doesn't make sense to start him since he needs to back up Jose at the 1.

As much as i really like Belinelli, i'd rather have him come off the bench for 20+MPG and being our main scorer off the bench. But it will be him or Derozan. We'll see by the end of training camp which of the two will take the job.

calderon, bellinelli backcourt would be eaten alive. both of these guys cross themself's over when they attempt to play defense.

wouldn't suprise me to see this backcourt to start but i think it will be brutal. 2 players who's only defensive movement is backpedaling

It's going to be who finishes games that really matters. I's expect the starter to come out pretty early if it's Belinelli or Derozan anyways.

The two will basically split the first quarter i'm guessing, who cares who starts. And then the 3nd quarter will likely be Beli, Wright and maybe Jack as well.

The thing is i'm guessing he'll play 15min @ SF and 8-10min @ SG, but he's more of a SF, i agree with you.

I have to think that Jack will play important minutes there, or Wright as well. It's going to be more important to get a good rotation down than focus on who starts.

I think Jack and Wright will play primarily at the backup PG/SF positions respectively. With sparing minutes at the two here and there in certain situations.

My guess is there will be about 12-13min per game left @ SG after Beli/Derozan get there roughly 35-36MPG.

considering ESPN thinks belinelli will start, kind of shows how much of a deal BC got out of that trade considering devean george probably would've been an inactive list player
that or ESPN thinks really low about our SGs and just dumped someone in there

what makes any of you guys think DD is ready to be an NBA starter in this league?
before getting drafted, he was considered a potential project who will take time to develop and will be a good player after getting comfortable and learning the ropes.

Now all of a sudden after a good few games in summer league, you guys have him slotted to start?
i dunno... what happened to taking our time with him?

Considering ESPN ranked the Raptors at 9th for this coming season, it shows that they are prone to wild speculation and dont' really 'know' anything. Their guess is as good as the next guys.

Oh and the only one that is sick, wicked and nasty! around here is me...so i suggest you drop the handle

imo this is the perfect lineup to throw him into the water and see if he can swim. belli is a perfect spark off the bench and i'd rather see wright be primarily a backup 3. put dd in as a starter, have him be the 5th wheel and get used to the guys he'll be playing with for years. he can hit spot-up mid rangers and attack the bucket when his man goes to double. if it doesn't pan out, put him back on teh bench.

defense needs to be a team concept anyways, and it's not like belli is a defensive stud. wright is probably better, but not so much better (on defense) that he should be starting.

if we try it and dd takes off then it's a huge reward move. if he doesn't take off he's right where we expected him to be and he goes to the bench. no real risk in giving it a try. if it works, the team balances out perfectly.

+1

Jose/Jack
Derozan/Belinelli
Turkoglu/Wright
Bosh/Evans
Bargnani/Rasho

looks good to me, very solid rotation. If Derozan can hold his own on defence we're golden.

derozan should start, at least for the majority of the season, i can see belinelli starting the season off at the starting SG position, but derozan will take that spot pretty soon into the season, unless this lineup is working well
