Default Belinelli: Starter or 6th Man?

After a great performance last night in the Home opener i was kind of curious after debating with a few friends on this issue.

Should Marco be given a handfull of games in a row as a starter over Derozen or should we expect him to be great as a 6th man off the bench and post up some great numbers as the likes of Ginobili and Jason Terry.

Marco has shown to be awesome when given the starting spot on GS. Then again Derozen played great IMO in his first career regular season game last night.

Thoughts?

No need to change what isn't broken. If it becomes broken, then sure. I think Wright would also enter into the picture.

6th man.

derozan was a perfect fit for the starting lineup. slashing, energy, rebounding. we don't need shooters along side bosh/bargs/hedo/jose. we do need shooters along side jack/wright/evans/amir/rasho.

the balance as they played last night was just golden.

Jay put a rotation into place where everyone is coming in and out. I didn't really notice "starters" and "bench" I just saw everyone playing with each other and having fun which was awesome.

I think he can be very effective as our sixth man more effective then DD so i would keep him as our 6th man but give him more time then triano did yesterday! he could have played more because his defense was surprisingly good and on the offensive end he was effective au ussualy!

+1. Having a team full of guys that don't have to be "the man" is something I can get used to.

Speaking of Belli: The team just exercised their option on him, which was expected anyway.

I've been against starting Derozan all along, but he proved me wrong last night. If he can consistently play the way he did last night, then I like the rotation as is.

I especially liked his hustle in the first quarter that helped us get off to a great start. He had a couple of big boards and a great steal that led to a fast break hoop.

Agreed.

Belli is perfectly suited to the 6th man role.

I have to say that I was REALLY impressed with DD too... for a rook he has a ton of poise. Didn't try to do too much.... played hard and didn't make too many mistakes at all. Good for him.

Teams are going to figure out the Raps offence eventually and you'll see them leaving DeRozan open for jumpers. Unless he can make 'em with consistency then I'd still prefer Wright playing with the first unit.
Bellinelli looked pretty good coming off the bench last night and I see no reason to mess with that.

tons of poise and patients, letting everything come to him and letting the big guns get theirs. Kids gonna be a player barring injury, i have no doubt about it. He's got a richard jefferson calibre future ahead of himself or better. It is not normal for young players this talented to be so coachable, raps got themself a baller

Dude DeRozan had 3 jumpshots from what I remember and he hit 2 even if he only hit one jumper in last nights game he still had a a good game...Plus DD's explosivness has returned he didn't show us much in training camp...But last night it was there!

Wright is Hedo's Backup Period!

Plus Derozan is the slasher we needed in the starting lineup and he's playing well. There's no debate here to be had. I really liked the way Jay distributed the minutes last night, especially since both Jose and Jack got their 30 minutes.

First off Wright isn't a shooter, and Derozan 20ft in has always been a very good shooter. Plus whoever of the two plays with the starting lineup would be a last option anyway. Wright starting, just won't happen unless Derozan gets hurt, and even then?

I said eventually teams will figure it out. They'll leave DD and double. The kid's jumper still has a long way to go, but I didn't say bench him.
By the way, there were moments last night where Wright and Hedo were on the floor at the same time. Triano is rolling the swingmen out there according to matchups without paying too much attention to individual positions. At one point Hedo was technically at the four, that doesn't make him Bosh's back-up now does it?

Wright looked like a decent shooter to me with that late 3. He also took LeBron to the hole a couple times as well.
The problem is when that "last option" gets the ball late in the clock because he's the only guy open. Hopefully DD can stick that shot.

Wright is a career 41 FG% (29 3PT%)

He's not exactly a shooter. He can be a slasher and play very good D, but a shooter he is not.
