Here's hoping. But with that $22 million expiring, someone will take him to have a shot at Lebron/Wade/Bosh, etc....

Was my original thought as well, however if the team cannot or will not compete as it is currently, a change needs to be made.

The odds of landing a big player in 2010 is very, very thin anyways due to capholds, draft picks, etc.

If Marion was brought in it improves team NOW and gives alot of cap space this year(rasho, daniels, kidd, iverson, wallace, felton, ariza, odom, turkyglue, miller, barnes, williams, bibby)

We're not the ones who are gonna be active in the 2010 FA market. I think BC's goal is to try to trade JO at some point in the off-season and stabilize this franchise with at least a few decent pieces for depth and the starting lineup - and you know teams are going to be clamouring to get 22 mil off their roster to make a run at one of the big FAs.

Hawks wouldn't take that. Both Johnson and Horford are studs.

I wish! He's not scoring much and Bargnani gets as many blocks as him and has shown he can play the 5.JO isn't worth the money for what we're getting. If we can get a couple athletic wing players and a draft pick for him i'd say pull that trigger and fast.

Either a 2 & 3 or a 3/Backup PG+ draft pick.

I just think that not alot of teams out there would want JO right now.

lol if you are just figuring out that JO isnt worth 20mil a season?? wow, JO, his mom and his dad already knew that coming into this year, the world knew that, he will never be what he was, not what we were expecting, he wont make 20mil ever again, but maybe we can resign him for 10ish, then you would be happy?

JO has been fine overall, the error has been in that the team plays no D, in which case JO is even more valuable to us as he's the only 1 that plays D

The only tean that wants JO is NYK and you all know why.
Future Roster for the Knicks:
PG:Nash
SG:Wade
SF:LeBron
PF:Bosh
C:Amare

And besides, whos to say Maggette couldnt be traded as welll next season?

Or if JO is moved for a sg, center and backup point.....Maggot would still work at sf.
He has a butt-ugly contract that's newly signed that will run him into 33 years of age being paid at 10M a year. And if you haven't heard lately, he's playing so selfish and bad that the Warriors already want to get rid of him.

not sure who looks stupid, do you actually understand how the cap space works, and how valuable 22 milions expiring in the great year of 2010 are?

I think to save his ass, BC has to trade JO's contract this year which is very valuable for teams to make a run at Lebron/Bosh/Wade in 2010. This way he can get guys like Marion and Toronto can continue to play for 6th spot in the Leastern conference. If we could wait until the summer of 2010, maybe we could land Wade here if we're lucky. But GMs usualy have to save the day if their careers are on the stake. That's why he will choose the safer route and trade JO. If we can get Marion and plus a contributor like Haslem for JO, Raptors will be a much better team.

Salaries don't work out. Haslem would be nice, but there's no way the Heat trade Marion AND Haslem for JO.

U would only have to add a $2 million contract to go to the Heat, but yeah its still iffy.

You think you just add $2 mil in salary and poof, it's a done deal? Bro, you gotta think about the quality of player(s) that goes the other way in the deal. Haslem is having a solid season - so the Heat is going to want to have some sort of incentive in return.
