Default BC on FAN590... now

BC is interviewed by Bob McCowan...

He is saying that decision to let Sam go was right thing to do...

He is happy with Joey's development.

Bosh will not play in All-Star game but he'll be there to sign autographs and for other stuff... BC feels that is more important for him to heal and contribute to the team's push in the second part of the season... (push for what?)

Also he said that until Bosh comes to him and asks for a trade he is in Raps plans for future.

He is busy on the phones but cannot guaranty that deal will happen... he is saying that GMs are hesitant because of money commitments.

He also said that Raps are in good position for 2010 but if he can get deal done they would be good for 2009 as well...

All in all he didn't say anything new or surprising... I am sure they will post full interview on Fan590's website soon.

He said that Joey was just a lump on the bench that didn't play under Sam, and that his development, as well as Bargnani's "blossoming", along with just the "decorum" they were looking for makes him not regret the firing. And he said that it's Jay's job to lose, and thus far he has done nothing to make him think that he should lose the job. Some seriously fucked up bullshit there.

Well what is he supposed to say? 'Yeah.. um... we're going to fire Triano after this season, but.. keep listening to him until then, guys!!!'

I think Colangelo was as as non-committal as he could reasonably be. That said, I'm going by your summary of his comments: I didn't actually hear the interview.

Um, if you ask me, what he's doing is taking responsibility.

I like it.

A good GM doesn't toss his coach or player under the bus, until he trades um or fires um.

I watched this interview, and one things for sure.... BC hates to lose and if anything can get done in the next week he'll do it. But i also get the impression he isn't gonna make a panic move. He certainly took responsibility on the way the season has gone and one thing i was glad to hear him say was that we need some grit in this lineup. And he reiterated again that Delfino will likely back next season.

His take on Triano was weak imo, he'll be gone this summer and BC will hire "his" guy (whoever that is) after Sam gets a job with Minnesota.lol

My take, from "listening between the lines", was that he and Sam had too much disparity in their basketball philosophy. Sounds like Bryan wanted to have a certain culture to the team and Sam's way of doing things just didn't fit that mold.

I'd pretty much agree, but then why not say that? I think you could read between the lines and hear that he made a desperation move that failed.

What really bugged me was that he then pointed to the Lakers game as some sort of indication that this team was better than it's record. Who buys that? They went with the three bigs in that game, and I have to think that is how he sees this team somehow. I'm just not getting what BC's philosophy actually is, and he really comes out sounding like he's spewing BS. I mean they need grit, but somehow he can't accept working with the guy who does everything he can to bring out the grit. And now Delfino is going to be some kind of answer.

I guess you could if you wanted to, but I really think Bryan had been wanting to remove Sam for a long time. I'm not sure why he waited so long.

I also got a chuckle from McCown calling this the most surprising coach firing in his 35 years, that he hadn't heard even a rumble about it. We know you don't pay attention to basketball, Bob.... you don't have to go out of your way to prove it.

It simply makes no sense firing a coach because you had wanted to for some time, when the season was only 17 games in. Either way you look at it it's bad.

And the more I think about it, the more I think he'll likely stick with Triano. We've all read between the lines before and thought he was merely being diplomatic or whatever, but the guy does say what he means most of the time. He likes to hire from within. Why do we think he'll just get "his guy" when he thinks he already has that, just like he did with Sam?

Anyway he's got no answers at all if he thinks that Joey getting 20+ minutes a night once he came back from injury amounted to being a lump on the bench, while a week after Triano came in - Joey got less time.
