Default BC on the FAN with Jack

•Injury update:
Hedo needs to get a protective device and will be ok once they get him equipped.
Demar did not travel with the team, but should be fine.
Still shooting for just after the all-star break with Evans.

•They wanted to address the depth last summer, and now with Banks playing well, they have a third-string pointguard that deserves to play. It's just a challenge to keep everyone happy

•He doesn't want to overstate where they are - not in the upper echelon yet. Do they lack one key piece? They are being patient. Definitely not trading Bosh. If the right piece became available they would overall be buyers rather than sellers. The right deal would have to make sense in a market that is a little out of whack.

Yeah, i was listening and it sounded to me like he's going to make some kind of move, i have a feeling it'll be a farely minor one but something is likely going to happen. Just the impression i got. I agree with his assessment, the Raptors aren't there yet, but with one schrewd moved could be.

Hmm We are playing well and our 2 guards are definatly producing. What do you guys think we need to improve on? I think our starting line-up is good maybe a bench player

He didn't really say they needed one last piece. He just asked the question rhetorically and let it hang there. I would say he would make the obvious move, but not tinker so much otherwise.

Yeah, why make a minor lateral move.

It's like taking a five dollar bill out of your left pocket and putting it in your right pocket.

well, i only keep hundreds in my left pocket, so that's an obvious move. don't want to get my papers mixed up!

He said that they've been asking themselves the question internally. It just sounds to me he isn't quite satisfied, but he also appears to not really be in any rush, or to be pushing to make a move. Unless an offer he can't refuse comes up, he probably won't do much.

Honestly, come playoff time do you really think Derozan/Weems/Beli is enough at SG with the lack of playoff experience? Tough call imo. I'm fine if he does nothing, just asking because all three players are young and have 0 playoff experience. I know we have Wright, but....?

BC has to look at the playoffs and not just how we're playing in January. Which is his job of course.

I think our SG's are fine. They're a great group. Even if they don't produce come playoff time, they showed they could defend. The only person I am concerned about is Jose. Although what he lacks of D, he makes up on O, we can't have a bad defending PG. It would work if he was taller, putting him on the SG but I would trust Banks so much more to play the PG when it's a close game knowing he can defend.
I dunno I think we should stick with what he have at the moment.

Two things that might play into BC's decision on trade or not to trade.

-Colangelo's 4th year as GM, looking to get his final year picked up this summer and possibly get extended.

-Needing to make a statement in the playoffs to try and keep Bosh

Also the continued great play of the best power foward in the game. With the decline of KG and Tim Duncan, the Raptors may have the best forward in the game. I know you like it Snooch.

I think a trade could have as much to do with seeing a high paid third string pg with no chance to play, and some other guys that could get more minutes elsewhere. He could be looking to get an upgrade while letting a few guys loose to unload the logjam at the end of the bench.

Default Raptors getting serious love south of the border

ESPN's Marc Stein has ranked the Toronto Raptors as the number 7 team in the country in his weekly power rankings (previously: 12). Looks like the Raps are finally getting some respect here in the US.

His comments:
Quote:
For a group frequently tagged as soft, this is momentous: Toronto just became the first team since November '02 to trail by at least 10 points in four straight games and win all four. Foes: Knicks, Heat, Lakers and Bucks.

we need to get rid of Jose, and we need a real sg

Isn't the playoffs about DEFENCE? dont things get really slow and defensive? All the other team will do is once jose hits the floor, get the PG to drive and work his magic and he should be able to shake jose in about 3 seconds to take the open look or make that perfect pass

#7 is too high, chicago is playing better than us right now (5 games in a row on the road against .500 or better teams - first team in history to do that). Charlotte is also playing extremely wellm with some pretty impressive wins lately.

I won't complain though, let's be, for a change, a little too high than we deserve - we've been too low all season long

Maybe so, but overall we've been alot better then those two teams over the last 6 weeks. Which is of course taken into consideration.
