Fast forward the evening to BC addressing the crowd...

(from what I can remember)
~ Excited about the young guys
~ Talk of the summer league; other GMs raving about Demar/Sonny/Davis
~ Davis has overwhelmed them in terms of what they got for the 13th pick
~ looks undersized but is hitting the gym hard; hasn't lifted weights in 6 months due to wrist injury
~ in a great situation with the TPE
~ looking to be even more flexible in years to come
~ currently 10-12 mill under TAX threshold = options
~ actively scouring the league for 'the right piece'
~ threw a few cheap jabs at JORDAN for the bobcats trade
~ reiterated (as per many reports) that the BARNES mishap is not their fault ... (reports say barnes' agent messed up with the #'s of what orlando could do in terms of an S&T)
~ Says BARNES deal isn't dead but a few other teams are now in the bidding for him
~ BARNES addresses their desire of a gritty tough guy who can shoot, athletic and play multiple positions
~ Big Believer of MOVING ON; wasn't willing to TRY TURK out ~ would rather just move on
~ Talks about Barbosa and how great of a kid/player he is; before they drafted him they saw a video of him and a bunch of coaches standing in the background and this guy 'blurring' by them back/forth dropping buckets;
~ ONE MAN FASTBREAK
~ is a combo guard 1/2; will be used as such
~ Mentioned Jack went out of his way to go to Vegas; didnt need too; showed great leadership (basically alluding Jose's gone)
~ Mentioned Joey Dorsey at least a handful of times. good praise. maybe thot of keeping him on the roster?
~ 2 players that aren't guaranteed; Dorsey and Dwayne Jones; gives them even more flexibility should they not hang around
~ Says he knows very little about Dwayne Jones; he'll be working out with Ed Davis in Richmond this week; coaches going down there to monitor
~ Someone in the crowd asked about defense; says they gotta play on both ends of the floor and everyone is committed to it
~ Says PJ was brought in for a reason; he curses alot but all in good spirit; respected by players and coaches; will make an impact on the culture thats needed
~ Marc Iavronni gone...(tho he was BC's guy, didn't seem like bryan gave a crap; wished him well)
~ Someone asked (who cares??) about Rasho and Antoine Wright and bringing them back ... BC shut it down (all the while looking at this guy like wtf, are u serious?)
~ said they loved Rasho a few years ago, his leadership skill was great; brought him back for his leadership; ended up not working out as he remained loyal to TURK and wud often shun out the 'right thing to do' in the locker room all outta respect for turkoglu
~ Wright fit in well ... media loved him because he loved the mic/camera ...wasn't consistent enough and often said the WRONG thing in interviews... he'll def land somewhere
~ all but confirmed a rift in the lockeroom last season b/w euro's and north Americans; guys complaining that everyone should be speaking ENGLISH with each other; there's supposed to be TRUST between teammates and that deterred that;
~ Said we did well in the first half; chris got hurt, locker room uneasiness led to complete failure in the second round
~ Excited about not being 'tied' down to a MAX contract
~ Says we can grow our guys and build cap space but 'LAYING DOWN' is NOT IN MY DNA and we're going to put a product on the floor that you will be proud of

After all that, i wasn't satisfied and had a few more q's that I needed to know ... so i lined up to Q&A him ...

Q... it's obv a youth movement but is that it? are we looking to just let these guys GROW or push towards something ?

BC... we're excited about the youth movement; at the same time we know our guys need help and guidance; we're actively looking around to make this team better; we're not tanking, we're assessing a few options and looking for the 'right pieces' to move forward

Q... are you looking to add ONE BIG PIECE to this puzzle or a few smaller components
BC... (FAVORITE PART HERE....) one of my buddies was holding a camera at BC and after I asked the Q, he goes 'hey, you're not recording this are you?..don't record this...' ... Then goes on to say ... well, YEA! I'm looking for that ONE PIECE, that lightning rod that'll strike the guys and bring everything together and push this thing forward

Q...buddy asks...Euro vs NA players...do the euro's not seem like they're not as aggressive/motivated?
BC...No-NO...I dont believe that for a SECOND (actions act like he's almost disgusted at the q). We look for the BEST BASKETBALL PLAYERS, doesn't matter where they are ..

further goes on... we got a guy coming in in Linus Kleiza. The guy has a ton of 'brother' in him (lol). He grew up in NYC, New jersey area, played with a bunch of tough guys in Denver. He's exactly what we need(ed), he's tough as nails and isn't going to back down from anybody. Very happy about this guy, and you will be too.

Q ... Barnes?
BC ... can't say much, but he FITS the mold of what we're trying to do. This league doesn't have many GOOD/REAL Post players and many are going towards a more guard oriented lineup. There will be times we will have 3 guards on the floor.. whether it be JOSE.. for now (....yes, he said 'for now'), Jarret, Leandro, Sonny, Demar, Linas... we're going to be an athletic, uptempo team that gets up and down the floor... on BOTH ends of the court

Q ... Bargs as the #1 option ...
BC... he def can be. Ppl knock him for his rebouding but its the style that we play that doesn't allow him to get many rebounds. Plus we had CHRIS on the block. Chris is NOT a post player, he's more of a mid-post. HERE IT COMES .. says .. Look, Chris is an awesome talent and we TRIED with him. BUT he's not necessarily the IDEAL guy to BUILD AROUND... We tried making things work. We got another BIG guy to compliment him in JO...didn't work. We got turk, which to many in the league seemed like one helluva move... Didn't work. CHRIS is a great talent, but he NEEDS a Dwayne Wade, Lebron or Kobe. Last year at the trade deadline i said it out openly, that we were looking to be BUYERS... i said that for 2 reasons.... a) I wanted you guys to know we're serious about winning... b) wanted other teams to know that we're looking/listening... .. at the end of the day, there wasn't anything worth while. I was looking for a good/right piece and it wasn't there.
People gave me heat about not making a move but we weren't going to do something just for the sake of it.. it has to work and we looked around, believe me we did.
With Chris now not demanding the ball and making it a more stagnant offense, Andrea is going to play his game. He's going to beat guys down the floor and with the movement on offense will catch many guys off guard and exploit them.
Had a detailed convo with Andrea at seasons end, sat him down and said (amongst other things) you've GOTTA get better at rebounding. Says Andrea has the size to be a good rebounder but will have to do it by putting his body on guys and boxing out. Other guys get drawn to rebounds by their athleticism, Andrea's going to have to do it with SMARTS and his SIZE...and is capable.

Q...Is Andrea a 4 or 5?
BC. . Both.. he can play both positions comfortably

Q .. Ok, rephrase... Do u think Andrea would be better off with a REAL BIG man beside him
BC... yes, i think so...(queue..twinkle in his eye)

Q ... interest in Jose?
BC ... i can't say anything about that right now

Q ... OK.. are u having to 'sell him' or is there genuine interest?
BC ... a bit of both.. i can tell you teams are really interested in him and there have been offers, but sometimes it requires a bit of selling to get an offer that makes sense for your team...

Q... With the CBA expiring...whats the mindset of teams right now.. are many SELLING LOW?
BC... no one knows whats going to happen and the challenge really is that NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA. But, i will say yes, that many teams are looking to unload players.

Q... How are the RAPS approaching this? Looking to 'gamble' on a BIG TIME guy or play it safe and see what happens next year
BC...We're buyers and are looking. But AGAIN, if it fits. We're more than willing to spend what we have on ONE Guy as long as he fits what we want to do..

Q...What's the problem with BEASLEY and why didn't the raps JUMP on him..
BC...Naaah.. we didn't want him and they couldn't even GIVE HIM AWAY.

...me suggesting the guys obv got talent, was it just a maturity thing?

BC...amongst others... they finally got someone to take him and it took LEBRON to say yes to them for them to be forced to let him go. They had no choice and sent him for a FUTURE SECOND ROUNDER!

Q ... how do we get rid of that stupid cartoon dinosaur as our logo and make it the claw
BC .. laughs saying, send a memo to our marketing guys ~ thats not my job lol

...From earlier... a fan asked .... with all this change and growth and youth push, my question is .. Are YOU going to hang around or leave us hanging?

BC... I'm here AS LONG AS THEY WANT ME here.. I LOVE THE CITY, MY FAMILY LOVES it, it's home to us now and I have no intentions of leaving.

.. thats all i can think of right now....

thing with rasho is that he's a veteran, and maybe felt he has to protect a fellow veteran player.

ultimately, I never understood the whole veteran leadership with rasho, he's just old. He's too laid back to be a leader, age is not really the thing that makes a leader what he is. Paul was a leader at 21, wall seems to be one at 19, that's something you have it or you don't. Almost impossible to learn it, and certainly doesn't come to you naturally as you get old ...

Yea same. I didn't think rasho would be like that and I think because rasho did that, that's why the whole NA players vs. Euro players thing started that BC said :/

Pretty unfortunate that BC threw Chris under the bus like that.... I thought that BC had a little more tact/class.

And yeah... that Rasho/Hedo thing... wow.

The rest of the media scrum was pretty interesting though! Thanks!

Shocked, but I could be wrong, but they did play in SA together. Probably forged a friendship and well the rest is history.

Um, where exactly was he throwing Bosh under the bus?

Everything he said was already said before by most fans. Bosh is clearly (Now) not a guy you can build around, not even Bosh believes it anymore. Our offense did get stagnant at times with Bosh holding the ball too long.

Which statement did you feel was inaccurate?????

The Raptors is the girlfriend who was just dumped by their boyfriend. Bosh just found a younger, better looking girlfriend with a great rack. Of course BC is going to say bad things after the break-up. Just remember, BC had full intention to re-sign Bosh and was one of the suitors to Bosh after July 1st.

Yeah, I'm not sure he really throws Bosh under the bus. He gives him his thanks, says he's a great talent but not a true franchise guy. I don't see much wrong there.

As for that one piece he continues to speak of, I have a feeling he's speaking of a high level PG. All Colangelo teams have had strong guard play and usually a top 5-8 PG in the NBA. He's got his eyes on someone.

Really like what he's saying. And his creative juices are flowing without Bosh here, he's obviously excited about the possibilities of building a team based more on guard/wing play. I hope he gets another contract here.

our offence was efficient and the biggest contributor to that was bosh. He scored 24 points with the ball in his hands alot less then most 24ppg scorers. should the ball have been in hedo's 40% shooting hands more or Bargnani who gets most his opportunities when somebody penetrates and kicks it out to him for either the 3 or pump n drive-pullup? The ball in bosh's hands was never a problem with the offence, BC is just bitter that his rep will most likely further take a hit next season. I think he even said recently that He feels Bosh is not a max player yet you know damn well he would have paid max dollars to keep bosh. Great, our GM is the type of person that lies to himself

He's being honest and i think he's had his doubts for a while about him receiving the max.

In all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me if that's who he has targeted. He's working towards cap space, he's going with youth and he wants financial flexibility.

I think that's EXACTLY who he's targeting and trying to create the right situation. I don't think it happens soon, but he'll be there.
