Question BC acquiring Chandler, Diaw, and Barbosa

I know it's not official yet, but from all reports, this deal is finished. My question to all you Raptor fans: after today, are we a better team?

My personal opinion is that we are a better team in the short and long run. We rid ourselves of 2 bad contracts in Turk and Calderon. In return, we get a player very similar to what we lost in Turk (Diaw) imo, diaw is a better defender than Turk because he puts his effort on defence. Also, I like Barbosa. He's a good defender, fast, and a threat off the bench. He could easily fill in at the backup 1/2 role. Chandler is the icing on the cake... his rebounding and interior defence should be useful when Coach gets tired of Bargnani. If injuries catch up, we still have a solid rook in Alabi to play as the third centre. Good job BC!

Right now we're not better. But these contracts give us a lot of flexibility down the road. It's better for us in the long run which is good.

Yeah, no doubt we're going to be better in the long run. I think the impact of the deal would be based on Chandler's health. He averaged a double-double a few seasons ago, but can turn out to be another Jermaine O'Neal.

Of course we're better. We've replaced Evans/POB/Turkoglu/Jose with Barbosa/Chandler/Diaw/Kleiza/Davis/Alabi, and we aren't done. We have better flexibility with the TPE, in the the next few years alot of money coming off the books. No question this deal makes us better going forward.

It depends, if Chandler can get back on track we might just be a better balanced team with better ball movement, and we're at least a little better defensively and tougher.

If you read the poll, it was strictly based on the 6 man trade. And get off Kleiza LOL

Looks like that poll is a wee bit one sided.

Even if you include Bosh we are a better team.
While I think the make-up is still in flux we have more flexibility, defense and youth.
Get over Bosh he is a solid PF and one of the top 5 PFs in the game.
But the drop off in quality in PFs are minimal.

If you look at Turks numbers and Jose's last years we have replaced them already plus.
Chandler is a huge upgrade on Rasho and POB.
We should expect improvement in Weems and DD.

Not really an overall better team, but a better defensive team.
This also gives us a better chance to be a better team in the future. Therefore giving us fans some hope.

Outgoing:

Hedo = 9.8, 10.6, 11.4, 12.2 = 44
Calderon = 9.0, 9.8, 10.6 = 29.4
Reggie Evans = 5.0 = 5.0

8 years @ 78.4

Incoming:

Barbosa = 7.1, 7.6 = 14.7
Diaw = 9.0, 9.0 = 18.0
Chandler = 12.8 = 12.8

5 years @ 45.5

My friend just informed me that Steve Nash said before he wants to end his career as a Raptor. Is there any truth to that? Could've been many, many years ago. Plus, Colangelo and Nash are acquainted with each other. I can see Nash here repping Canada for a year or two.

Nash did say he would like to play for the Raptors near the end of his career, but this was a few years ago. With Amare/Diaw/Marion/Barbosa etc. now gone the Suns are a going to be closer to the bottom half of the Western Conference. IMO if there's anytime Colangelo should go after Nash it's now.
