Reggie actually gives us some of what we need in that area though.
You have a good point. But do you give up on a young talent like DeMarcus Cousins, Monta Ellis or a young Iverson. Some players mature and some players don't (Steve Francis, Marbury). Its all depends if that young talent competes and brings effort every night. Monta Ellis admits he has matured as a person with the birth of his child. I would trade the teacher's pet Bargnani for a player like DeMarcus Cousins. Give me 7ft foot player like Cousins with his skillset and williness to fight in the paint than the good character Bargnani who mails it in 50% of the time.

I like Bayless, very smart and loves it here. He'a already trying to find a favourite place to eat here. Maybe the Young Gunz will show him some places. His future along with Derozan, Weems, Davis, and Amir look bright

I've been wanting Ellis here for a LONG time.... and I'd still take him without hesitation. I think that his issues have been overblown (like Rondo's).

Cousins.... I don't know about... he really seems to have a bit of an attitude on him.... and not in a good way.

I like Bayless. Nice bench player, comes off the pine and gives instant energy. Has a nice shooting touch and can drive. Young as well and I absolutely love the fact he likes the city and the team

It seems to me he likes it wherever he goes. He is a character guy. He is deffinently more humble than your average millionaire.

Toronto really becoming a strong market, if basketball was here since the 50's the Raps would have been one of the great franchises

its just weird how people look at expansion franchises, they have earn there stripes, I think Toronto is finally geting rid of that tag

another comment i liked was from Ed Davis, when said going to the D League, he said he was spoiled at North Carolina and Toronto before going to the D league and got some good experience how tough it is out there

Toronto Blue Jays were looked down on in a similar way until they won 2 back to back championships.

The Raptors time will come.

Plays hard and with passion, and I think alot of that has to do with the guys just really liking each other and getting along.
This is why you don't see a guy like beasley on this team.... This is why BC grabs quality guys. A happy and healthy lockeroom can do wonders for a team and it's players outlook. Bayless is the newest member and is evidence to that.
Um... what about last game vs the hawks? They ALL played like shit.

If players skills were based on the way they talk in the media, Bayless would be an all-star.

And Ed Davis would still be in the D-league. Brutal.

I suppose that will come with time too.

i'm happy for this love he has for T-dot but thats mainly because he's getting a good opportunity here with the Raptors and the fans really want him here so he's getting love from fans, its not so much the city itself he loves but the opportunity here
but i'm really liking him because he's 1 of the rare young players that is not just raw potential but he already has a certain skill level, we usually get guys that are young and raw or older guys that are way over their prime, unless of course its 1 of our high 1st rounders
i'm really happy he's 1 of our main PGs, i actually feel confident when i see him on the court running the team, jarrett jack gave me no confidence, he'd dribble around wasting shot and then just jack up a shot, bayless at least has the ability to break the guy down before he tries to make a shot and even then you feel like he has the ability to find a teammate, once jack started dribbling around you knew he was going to just shoot it himself and jack didn't really even have a good shot
at this point i think bayless' play is already on par with jack's and he hasn't reached his peak in terms of skill and play with the team

Worst case is he becomes a very good backup when fully developed.

He's motivated because he's got something to prove. He finally the opportunity to get some good minutes, and when he steps on the floor he is always on attack mode and being aggressive. Its too bad Derozan and Weems don't feel the same. This franchise has always awarded the starting position to high draft pick players who never deserved the starting spot (Graham, Bargnani, Derozan).

They've also awarded starting spots to guys that weren't high picks that didn't deserve it...... Moon, Mo Pete, Wright....

But I do like Payless over Jack.... great deal.

Talking Bayless:"I'm Home"

Quote:
Itís funny how some things work, because over the summer one of my good friends is actually from Toronto and told me he could just feel I was going to end up there. I obviously kind of brushed him off and never really entertained it with him. In the back of my mind, though, I knew deep down what a great situation it would be due to the fact it was a young up and coming team that was definitely on the rise.
