i almost feel like we've seen the last of bayless here, i feel the only way he comes back now is if we just can't find anyone else to sign, but then again this is the Raptors so we probably won't be able to lure anyone here that's bayless level, at least not someone at that level that can play the backup PG position

I think that Calderon and his 10 Million dollar contract might be gone before Bayless. Mainly because of the salary. IMO someone will be amnestied, BC has brought it up several times, i just don't think 10Mil in capspace in enough for what he wants to do. The only viable candidates for amnesty are Kleiza, Amir and Jose.

But he makes too much money and if this is the year you can get something better as a free agent PG, you amnesty that ass.

Dragic is an improvement over Jose because he can defend and because has far better lateral quickness/hops.

Based on the fact that he plays on a winning team & he puts up better numbers than Jose or Bayless consistently & it doesn't matter if he comes off the bench or if he starts, & he is taller, & he is a better defender, & has great court vision.

IMO He is just a better over all player than JB or Jose.

That depends what do you want your pg to do Jose is one of the best in the league when it comes to passing (especially finding bigs), however the smaller contract of dragic is a big bonus as long as we dont overpay

The first time I heard the Score use the term "Tank Nation" was in relation to Bayless being hurt. Awesome news, sorry for him.

Lol...pretty sure OKCs position in the standings is enough to shoot this down in flames. If that's not enough look at the year harden is having.

Yeah, i don't get this one. I see nothing wrong whatsoever with a PG that gives you 20+ppg/6-7apg. Especially if you can have a backup PG that is more of a distributor that can get the bench players going. Take a look at the PG's on some of the top teams in the NBA:

CP3- 20PPG
Rose- 23ppg
Westbrook- 24ppg
Parker-20ppg

I want a PG that has more of an impact on the win column than on the box score.

I'm just not really a fan of Westbrook.

He takes some of the dumbest shots I've seen. His stats look nice, but with the weapons he has on that team, he should be raking in the assists instead of taking 20 or 30 shots a game. Replace Rubio with Westbrook and I'd argue OKC is in a better position than they currently are. Rubio spaces the floor for his teammates and can get them the ball from almost anywhere on a court.

I still see Westbrook as more of a Monta Ellis shooting guard than a point guard. Rubio is a pure point guard.

How does the way Harden plays have anything to do with Westbrook?

from Chisholm - part of a much longer piece - TSN

Quote:
There is a strand of logic that justifies Bayless actually returning on a one-year deal by taking the team's qualifying offer and giving the whole arrangement one more kick at the can. Bayless gets another shot to show what he can do in Casey's system (ideally when fully healthy) and the Raptors get to carry over a little more of a rotation that is going to be overhauled this summer with no less than two rookies and (in all likelihood) a major free agent acquisition or two. While he'd still likely backup Jose Calderon, he'd at least get to enter true free agency more or less on his terms.

It effectively puts off a real decision for another season, but at this point, it is hard to imagine either side feels 100% confident in their feel for the situation heading into this summer. While Toronto's draft and free agent pursuits could alter their wants and needs between now and July, playing out the final year of his deal would probably make the most sense for both parties going forward, even if it is a less-than-ideal path to pursue.

This is going to be a very busy summer for the Raptors, if for no other reason than they have to adjust their lineup to account for two major rookie additions. No doubt Bayless and the Raptors wish that they had more time to evaluate their situation before having to make any kind of decision but that is not the hand that fate has dealt them.

Bayless is out until free agency hits and both sides must now decide their best course of action going forward. While a one-year deal makes some sense, perhaps the Raptors have a more confident feel for what those 25 games as a starter represents (or doesn't). It will be another three months before any real resolution on the matter is possible so just pin this to the list of questions that the team is going to have to answer between now the start of next season in October.

Shitty for Bayless, but since he can't finish off the season, if we take him back I hope we will only do it for cheap. Now it's Ben Uzoh time

Chisholm totally makes sense.

Hopefully, Deron Williams is our starting point guard in September, rendering these discussions kinda moot.

I'm fairly sure there arent many here that wouldnt want the production you listed, or one of the top 5 PG's in the league..... but hey, they grow on tree's didnt ya know?

But really, I guess Bayliss is right in there with the likes of Chris Paul and Westbrook!!!!
