Well for the record, if Andrea hadn't gotten hurt he probably would have been an All-Star, but I won't get into that...

I just don't see how a guy who hasn't proved anything in his entire career up until the last couple weeks can possibly be "better" than a guy who has proved himself time and time again like Jose.

If we're going to grab another point guard, he better be a guy who can help us over the top. I don't see Dragic as that guy. In our current state, we can't afford to use cap space on stop-gap guys.

Ah, a stat guy I see. If those stats you posted are correct, Jerryd is averaging just as good, if not better, in almost all of those categories, while playing less minutes than Dragic. Goran is averaging more turnovers, less points, and only one more assist per game than Jerryd.

Jose is a better player than both Dragic and Bayless (I don't know why that's debatable to be honest. Jose is just breaking down slowly. But based on skill and IQ Jose is a better player than each).

Now, if we're looking at next season, for a back up option, yeah, I'd go ahead with Dragic. When I watched him with the Suns and then with the Rockets, he makes some better decisions and learned from Nash how to enter the paint to draw the defenders and then kick out. That being said, it's a marginal upgrade and considering where this team is going I really don't think we bring him in.

I like Bayless as a combo guard off the bench to fill in the role left by Barbosa (and he could come in cheaply). I do not want to see Bayless strictly running this offense.

This is typical Raptors fan mentality. Every player is better than what we have. I've read this type of stuff for like ten years. Grass is always greener huh?

It's also our mentality to change our minds on a player. No better example than Jose Manuel Calderon over the past 2-3yrs. Leading up to this season most were hoping he'd be traded or amnestied. Now, we can all admit he's had a very good season. But he's not the answer here long term. Whether or not Dragic is can be debated i suppose but at some point in the near future we'll have a new starting PG.

I didn't say I wasn't down for trading Jose. I just don't want to trade him just for the sake of trading him. He serves a pretty important role here as our leader both on and off the court, which is something any young team needs. If we're moving him, I'd hope it would be for something of significance that can contribute to our future.

Ouch, that sucks.

Now we are forced to go sign a PG. I bet Bryan Colangelo wishes that he never let Anthony Carter go.

Edit: nevermind didn't see that we picked up Uzoh.

lol when did dragic place himself this season as one of the top 5 assists producer in the league, when he had talented players like martin, scola, lowry and dalembert to work with? cut the bullshit, fancy spin moves and speed highlights don't make a good pointguard.

I don't think I ever wanted him to be amnestied or really traded. The guy is a good player. He's just one of two things:

a. injury-prone
b. over paid.

He to me, IS still an answer long term, but not in the sense most fans see. I see him as the perfect back up point guard, who can play 25 minutes a night at a high rate. That to me, is incredible stablility and part of a long term answer for this team. What I think we need to see, is a young pg, who isn't injury prone who can get into the paint and make things easy for our cutters.

However, I will say this, that PG has become the MOST overrated position of discussion on this board.

I'd much rather focus on getting a SG/SF who can be considered top tier than a PG. All you need your PG to do is settle your guys down, start up the offence and get guys going. Again, we're too enamoured with the D. Rose's, Deron's, Paul's of this world.

If we could hold off for another year, the free agent class of 2014 looks pretty nice.

Bingo! That's why I've been advocating for a guy like Rubio instead of someone like Westbrook. The point guard position shouldn't usually be the guy that scores the bulk of the points for the offense. A guy like Rubio and his pass-first mentality would fit this team to a T.

Draft a SF and go after Dragic in the offseason. Dragic can do that very effectively and more.

BTW He's beasting again tonight even though he isn't 100%.

Getting back to Bayless, ouch that sucks! (good for the tank though) for the price i doubt we can do much better than him. I agree that Dragic is improvement over Bayless, but not Jose. I think we have a very solid starting PG and unless we get someone better for the future (hopefully pass first pg) there is no need to get rid of Caldy.
