Bayless on Hoops show 9pm eastern tonight

....on fan590.com

I guess their show is on later, but I'm pretty sure I heard that Bayless will be on.

Also, there is a new all Canadian basketball league starting up. Halifax Rainmen (averaged 4000 fans per game), Saint John Mill Rats and Quebec Kebs are in. Other cities to join.

Canadian basketball league is a joke if Toronto has a team. smh...

Ammo 05-12-2011 09:05 PM

The league currently has three committed teams (Halifax, Saint John and Quebec City), has received letters of intent from ownership groups in London, Oshawa, Kingston and Barrie Ontario, and continues to be engaged by additional interested markets.

The league will begin operations immediately, and will celebrate the start of its first season in the fall of 2011. For more information, please visit:

notes:

Bayless says he is trying to work on getting back his explosiveness. He's taking a month off, so for now he's just doing yoga and playing ping-pong.

Says the one thing the team needs most is a "bruiser".

There is a Sam Mitchell interview included and he was in Halifax and has been helping to set up this league.

Because this is a forum... and people write one line answers all the time... even when formal essays are the more appropriate tool for a proper analysis.

Here's mine...

Your telling me we might actually increase Toronto's odds of winning something and that I may proudly flaunt it to the world as a jersey and or smile???

SIGN ME UP!!! Any chance we get to crush and earn the respect of people locally and internationally I am all for... and will be a personal supporter and strong believer in supporting all endeavors potentially achieving this goal.

What a joke. If I wanted to watch sub par ball players go at it I would just follow the euro bball league.

It would be redundant.
If Toronto had a football team in the NFL, the argos would become unneccessary.
In our case the Toronto Raptors would make any other Toronto basketball team pointless. Especially considering how the team will be filled with rejects.

I don't think the league was meant for a "minor" league to scrape by directly under he big shadow of a major league team. They can choose their markets carefully. The reason Halifax can average 4000 fans is you have to go into communities that have strong local pride and want something to call their own. Especially in the east where they never seem to get the chance to compete for anything nationally, not even the CFL.

I know enough about other markets like Kingston, London and Oshawa that they all have their ownidentity and pride also.

And I think it's great to give guys a chance to play for pay locally. Maybe they can try and stagger their season a bit with competing leagues.

You know the Toronto Rock are a powerhouse in Lacrosse...

This league would be great for some of the smaller cities in the country to enjoy some live basketball and have a team to root for. Good for them for trying. I hope it succeeds.

True. There is nothing wrong with this.
Good for them.

They'd be smart to make it family oriented, gear some things toward kids. With the cost of taking a whole family out to any event, this might be able to compete.

How ya like these logo, by the way:

There is some backasswards logic.

If a city cannot support a Canadian league, why on earth would the NBA agre to either move or expand to said city?
