Barnes signs with the Lakers

TORap just had a little movement in his pants.

Quote:
As of late Sunday, according to a source, the Cavs were still in the running for Barnes -- though their opposition was formidable, with the Lakers, Celtics and Heat, along with Toronto, all making strong pitches.

I'd like to see Barnes here, but do we have minutes for him with Klieza and Weems expected to play?

I think it's a moot point anyway. Look at the teams vying for his services.

Think he's going to want to come here?

Look at the competition - essentially the league's top three contenders. No way Barnes comes here.

True say, but Kleiza and Weems are not as experienced as Barnes. Although Barnes usually came of the bench, he still has the better sense in playing right moves at the right time. I guess we could use him as a verteran.

Barnes is a good defender. nitty gritty guy. I always hear him trash talking whoever he's defending.

No way Barnes comes here! But just for discussion sake, would it mean Kleiza plays mostly at the 4?

i think it would mean kleiza and barnes playing the 3...while weems and derozan share the minutes at the 2...

We need a proven scorer...not another rotation player.

Yes BC! Barnes is a very tough defender, and can knock down the 3. He's a bit of an upgrade over Wright. I don't think we're getting him because you have the Lakers and Heat trying to get him, but at least BC is on the right track.

Didn't barnes snub the Raptors before signing with Orlando?

Barbosa is gonna get a decent chunk of minutes at SG.

Barnes AND Kleiza? How would 2 backups create one starter?

What I mean to say is you either have Kleiza start and use a cheap option like Weems off the bench or you get a legit starter to play in front of Kleiza (yes, while overpaying for the position once again). Barnes simply doesn't make sense.

Barnes doesn't necessarily want to do a 1-year thing. I think he signs with the team that offers him a multi-year contract at the most money.

SG-DD, Barbosa, Weems, Beli SF- Kleiza, Barnes, Weems Someone would have to be moved, probably Beli unless he's used as a PG. And then maybe Kleiza plays some 4. But we'd be very wing oriented and all of them can score, and we'd be tougher. I just don't see him coming here, and imo he'll be looking for 3-4yrs/12-16Mil.

I see Weems more as sf than sg so there will be a logjam at the 3, and Kleiza at 4..not sure

All tho teams can only offer the veteran minimum or BAE, we can outbid them easily. Barnes is looking for money, he never had a good contract in his life. So we are probably favourites.

He would be our starting sf. If he was good enough to start in Orlando, he should be good enough for us. He's a much better defender than kleiza, and just as gritty.

Honestly, where are the Raptors going to find a proven scorer this summer?

We have barely any money to offer him either.

FWIW the word on the street is the Cavs are in the lead anyway.
