Barkley: Kentucky could beat the Raptors

No. No they could not.

And for the record, Charles, Toronto is better than Charlotte.

Kentucky is immensely talented, no doubt. Anthony Davis will be the No. 1 overall pick with good reason, he can develop into a special player. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is maybe my favorite player in this draft because while every year at the draft we talk about “what a great motor” some player has Kidd-Gilchrist actually has one and lives up to it. Terrance Jones, Doran Lamb, the list goes on and on with guys who are going to get a shot in the pros. They are going to get a chance to develop.

But it would be men against boys. The strength of NBA players, the level of execution is far superior. Even on the Bobcats. Kemba Walker ate up college players last year and he is much better now. You think there is a college kid strong enough to stop Corey Maggette on the drive? Bismack Biyombo would be swatting shots into the third row. Gerald Henderson would have his way. Look at it this way — Tyrus Thomas was the No. 4 pick overall and he struggles to make it work in the NBA. The talent level is just far superior across the board.

Best of seven series, maybe Kentucky wins one. Maybe. Now, if you have a time machine and can keep this Kentucky team together when they are all 25 and they play these Bobcats, that could be interesting. But right now, boys against men.

And Barkley knows that, but he gets paid to be outrageous.

Charles Barkley makes a fool out of himself in that NCAA panel. He is lucky he gambles, is fat and has a charismatic personality or he couldn't even sit there.

Worst team in the history of the league will beat the best team in the history of ncaaa 7-0 in a seven game series, provided they would be playing motivated. It's just not close.

the thing is, it's not even close, even a D-League team would kick the ass of any college team. BB is too physical, and outside of a select very few, most college players are skinny and would stand no chance against a seasoned player. They would be crushed inside and on the boards and they would be outrunned and outjumped and outcoached and utterly and completely dominated in every area.

any nba team would execute the hell out of the best ncaa team, the nba game requires so much precision as the most basic play is probably too complicated for most ncaa teams, something like the jose to Bargs or amir pick and roll would destroy an ncaa team
and take into account that the 3 point line is significantly closer in the ncaa game, Bargs would be shooting the lights out from 3 in an ncaa game
just tell an ncaa big man to try and guard bargs' offense, the guy would probably foul out just biting on his pump fakes

Anyone who says this doesnt realize how many former NCAA stars are on NBA teams, and only the cream of the crop stay in the NBA longterm. Guys like Walker and Henderson were bigtime players in college and lotto picks. Guys like Mullens Derick Brown and Tyrus Thomas would abuse Kentucky inside. Its a joke that this even comes up as a topic of discussion. Its like when people seriously ask if a WNBA player can ever make the NBA.

More proof that at some point, we're going to have to take our shot and swing for something big, rather than aiming for 4 or 5 years as a tier 2 team and then fizzling out. They'll never let this team stop being Siberia. We HAVE to join the big market teams somehow because that's what we are.
