Bargs for Iguodala ?

So based on this article Andre Iguodala is on his way out... The 76ers looking for a scorer and a big man, and I think they will be able to use Bargs in this way. Their coach (Doug Collins) known to be a defensive coach who demands more D from his players.
I will be a pleased if BC (assuming he is back) will be able to get such a deal done for the Raps. If anyone, it will be BC to get such a deal done. Let's say Bargs + JJ/ Bargs + S&T Weems/ Bargs + ? for Iguodala.
What do you think?

They already have a soft, shooting big man in Hawes, I dont see them wanting Bargs

Hawes...... lol.... ok.

Bargnani would actually fit well with Speights and Brand......

FYI, I think Hawes expires this summer. He is a RFA, so they don't have to keep him.

Having said that, I'm not saying Philly would do this trade.

Igoudala has great talent, but he never became the superstar that was expected. He's a solid player but I wouldn't want him taking away minutes from DeRozan or James Johnson...unless the raps plan to play small....

i would take this trade in a heartbeat, to me iguodala seems like an honorary raptor since he'll forever be linked as the guy we didn't take in the draft but instead took the infamous araujo
it seems fitting for him to become a raptor in the end
i wouldn't mind him being the SF over james johnson, and maybe JJ becomes a PF in a small lineup, besides everyone here is in pretty much agreement that on a raptors championship team with JJ on it that he is not in the starting lineup but a quality bench player

You don't want Iggy taking Johnsons minutes?

heh.

That contract though.... eesh.

LJkAze 05-12-2011 01:07 AM

If Iggy does become a RAP Barbosa can do this during practice ^_^

rapsmannn 05-12-2011 03:52 AM

we get igoudala so we can be the worst 3 point shooting team in history

lol at people puting this season all on bargs, meanwhile disregarding the roster, the youth, and the coaching, our coaches don't know how to teach defense, we've seen it since the sam mitchell era, its just more of the same with triano, look at CB anchor the defense on miami, if you ask miami fans, or read there boards many agree chris bosh is having a great defensive playoffs and huge part of why there winning

ya of course bargs is a enigma but he isn't the guy to blame, if had all our core guys in there prime and still losing i would be driving him to the airport but we got young guys developing, bargs isnt' the leader he is a secondary guy

honestly i don't think to much is wrong with this franchise, where just going through antoher rebuild cycle, the chris bosh era ended, obviously not as successful as the carter era but still had some playoffs

who ever we draft this season will become that era, bargs is not good enough to have era but he is good enough to still have on thisteam as a great 3rd option

In fact Iguodala shoots threes better than our team :)

Low_Block 05-12-2011 08:36 AM

You can not be serious about that trade we have DD:sigh: Giving up your top score only to cut into mins from your player with the most potential grabbing at straws much ?

I doubt this trade would get done, why would Philly want Bargs?

moremilk 05-12-2011 11:47 AM

The reason they want to trade him is his salary, so why would they want a similar contract back? The only way that happens is if we take on brand with our exception somehow.

Agreed. They need cap relief. Why take Bargnani, when he's owed 42Mil/4yrs, while Iggy is owed 45/3yrs. Ultimately it does little to nothing for them at all in getting that relief.

In the article it says they (the 76ers) want a big man and a shooter. They don't have cap space, but a trade may give them a big man who is a shooter.
How many bigmen in the league can play PF/C and shoot from beyond the arc?
I think this trade might be possible.

The only thing i like about him is his defense (which isn't worth his salary). On the other hand after two years, if he doesn't workout here his 15Mil expiring contract might be valuable if he doesn't completely blow while here. But that could be 2yrs we can't afford.

Actually Jeff, you seem to be confused.... cap relief is different than salary relief. Such a trade would give them some cap relief, though the long term salary commitment would be quite similar.

u said it urself....they want a big man and a shooter. not a big man who is a shooter.

How many bigmen in the league can play PF/C and shoot from beyond the arc? bargnani's not one of them and bigman shooters aren't exactly a hot commodity in the NBA

Yes, which is why i said it does LITTLE to nothing. Bargnani only makes a couple million less the Iguodala the next couple season. Ultimately, in their situation that means fuck all.
