He averages less rebounds per game than lebron james. Bosh is 10th? or 11th in the league btw. and that is why it's such a breathe of fresh air when pops comes in the game. having 2 guys slapping at offensive boards trying to keep it alive is so nice. Bargs camps out on the 3 on offence (he does drive to the basket as well) but when anyone other than him shoots it, he is nowhere on the offensive glasses.

That's why i always proposed the trade Bargs/krapono for Baron Davis/Camby. Camby is 2nd in the league in rebounding and is ALWAYS top 5.. and won defensive player of the year + all defensive first team. That trade would solve alot of our problems @ the 1/2 baron.. cuz he can hit clutch 3's etc. but I think trading Bargs would be pretty good for the right deal.
If we trade away Bargs then our scoring goes into the toilet; well unless Baron starts playing like the old Baron.

Why in the hell would we trade Bargnani (23 years old, developed through the roughest part of his career) for the temporary services of Camby (34 years old) and Baron (29, with a bad back, bad knees, etc)?

Have you seen the statistical decline in Baron lately?

We bring in two veterans so that the 24 year old chris Bosh is happy... We can keep on trading all our players for younger and younger players until we are left with high school players.

If we get rid of Bosh and we build with Calderon and bargnani. Every team will score 100 ppg on us on the pick and role alone. We need to pair Bosh with some defensive minded players. If we could some how pick up artest we'd be top 4 in the east.

Baron/Artest/Marion/Bosh/Camby. Also the clippers GM is willing to trade away and prob wants a guy to build around liek bargs.

if we keep Bargs and calderon.. and let Bosh go.. (unless we get a guy like durant in return)... we will be 50/50 or under the next 3 seasons.

You don't build a good team making every decision to keep your franchise guy happy, not when the franchise guy can't carry a franchise (a la Duncan, LeBron, Kobe).

How are we going to land Artest after trading our most tradeable asset (other than Bosh)?

Of course the Clippers would want a guy like Bargnani, especially when he becomes a 20+ ppg scorer next year! He's already scoring 19ppg for the last couple of months (see one page back).

duncan couldnt carry shit without the ensemble around him, he isnt relied on to do the things chris is asked to do on a nightly basis.

You just cant win in this league without an elite guard or pg along with a great big, it's been pretty well documented i dont understand why most ppl cant see it.

The rockets are playing great ball right now, but artest and battier do the same thing.. If they dont get outta the first round.. they will prob let artest/mcgrady go and sign a big name FA in 2010 or picks etc. Also, it could be done in a 3 way trade (if we already got rid of bargs/banks for camby/baron) then we have a calderon/kapono/2nd round pick maybe for artest and whoever from the third team.

My point is, Bargs might get 20ppg next year, but he needs to be paired with a big bruiser C/PF. And... the raps team are WAY better rebuilding around Bosh than bargs. IF Bargs starts to drop 25 and 10... come next contract time.. he's going to want whatever money Bosh wants now.. so what's the point of that? Delay the process for 5 years until bargs' next contract and be under .500 until then? no thanks.

I think getting the top two players from the worst (and laziest) team in the nba will definitely solve all of our problems

As far as bargnani, beyond the stats (which are very good), the improvement is seen in:
a. consistency - he plays about the same every game, even when his shooting is off
b. defense - invididual defense is respectable, team defense is improving (still many ways off though)
c. defensive rebounding - per minute he gets as many rebounds as Bosh.

Regarding offensive rebounding, the number is low mostyl because where he plays. The way we run our offense, Bargnani starts and hovers at the 3pt line, especially when Bosh gets the ball. This is almost certain by design, to leave Bosh room to operate. Even when he gets inside the arc, it's mostly to shoot his own shot (either an 18th jumper, or the occasional posting). As a matter of fact, I think bargani gets most of the offensive rebounds on his own missed shots. If he doesn't finish a possesion, it's almost certain that he ends it on the 3pt line, to provide spacing for bosh, who is still our main offensive weapon.

The biggest weakness in his game remains team defense, where he's a disaster and that's the main reason we give up so many points when he's on the court. In particular, he's absolutely horrible on defending the pick and roll, where he often loses the big for a dunk or layup. This particular event happens a few times every game, and imo it's mostly new development since Triano took over the team.

Toronto Raptors NBA stats and data from 82games.com
this might be a misleading stat, because it includes the dreadful month of december, when he was horrible beyond what the stats show. Unfortunately NBA.com doesn't show more than 10 games in the past (or the full season). Over the past 10 games, the worst player in terms of +/- is Bosh, followed by Calderon and Bargnani. It's probably safe to say that as a starting C, his stats are much more respectable, including the +/-.

Wow some of you people make me just shake my head. The evolution of Andrea Bargnani has been the lone bright spot throughout this miserable season. He's the only reason I continue to watch games at this point. Fact of the matter is, he can do what 95% of other bigs in the NBA CAN'T do. It's really neat to watch. Sure there are still some deficiencies in his game, but look at every other player on this roster. The skys the limit for this kid. Make them all eat their words Andrea, I know you will.

He's our 3rd best defender behind Marion & AP. And he may surpass AP as he continues to slow somewhat. He blocks shots and alters alot as well. He's not a great defender, but he's vastly improved.
