Wasn't Casey that helped Dirk becoming a good defensive rebounder? And wasn't Casey that made a team works to cover some Dirk's defensive liabilities so making his team defence works? let's have faith.
No comparing Dirk and Bargs here...just to be clear

His mentality has never been good enough. He has taken all kinds of coaching, including some work with Moses Malone, and just chosen to ignore most of it most of the time. It was just a few months ago that he brushed off suggestions that he needed to get better at anything, since he had somehow established himself as a scorer, which was such a complicated aspect.

Now let's look at Dirk. He noticed early on, that like with Bargnani, the NBA game was too fast for what he had been able to do. He admitted that and then put in the work to rectify the problem, to the point where a coach like Avery Johnson had to try to limit his access to gyms so that he wouldn't wear himself out. Andrea? Well he has come up with excuses. He needs to play his natural position. They don't call the game rebound. He needs to get more minutes. He needs to be able to make mistakes. If we're going to see another coach saddled with that sort of BS, then it's a damn shame, especially if it's under the delusion that Andrea in any way can amount to what Dirk is as a player.

Dirk was able to rebound solidly well before Casey came along. And the only reason Andrea hasn't done the same is because he doesn't care to. Show me one guy that was a horrible rebounder for five seasons, and then became a rebounder on par with a Nowitzki. Then I'll not lose faith, maybe.

PS - Dirk's rebounding numbers decreased a bit since Casey's arrival.

You don't need to compare him to dirk.... just to substantiate your claims. Yeah, he's not as good as Dirk but Dirk is a top 10 player in the game. Maybe be finds improved mental focus, who knows.... he doesn't need to be Dirk though.

He's never going to be anything close to Dirk if he continues to be satisfied with what he is, which is a big sack of excuses.

It'd be nice if his +/- wasn't minus seventybilliontrillion every game.

I agree with that 100%. Just from hearing him talk you can tell that he just doesnt care at all about improving on Defense or Rebounding.

One interview that sticks out in my head was near the end of the season, he was giving an interview and they asked something like what does Collangelo want you to get better at? It was so obvious that all they wanted was for him to acknowledge that he needs to get better at Rebounding and/or Defense but instead he replied "Jumpshot"

I'd gladly take a significant dip in his scoring if it meant he contributed more in other areas, including ones that might not show up in the box score, like altering some opposing shats!
