Andrea is decent man 2 man, he has all the tools. But he has not been really challenged one on one. That's like a breakdown play - or option E for his opponent.

Teams are to busy involving Bargnani in guarding screens somewhere on the court to waste time going at him one on one. He's a horrible communicator - which in my books makes him a bad defender.

This stood out to me; 88th and 56th, then 47th and 83rd, then 72nd and 28th.

Flippity floppity - there is no consistency in the pattern which suggests the statistic is flawed.

Quote:
Synergy Sports ranked Bargnani in the 88th percentile in post defense on a per-possession basis, and the 56th percentile in isolation defense last season (with a gaudy 95th percentile overall). It wasn’t all Dwane Casey’s wizardry last season (though his work with Bargnani’s defense should not be ignored, but we’ll get there. In 2011, he was 47th percentile in post and 83rd percentile in isolation. 2010? 72nd percentile in the post, 28th in isolation

Meh.

People always need things to bitch about, things to look at to ease their minds and give comfort. It really has never been much of an interest to me.

LX, my least favourite person on all of the internet, made a nice point. The guy reacts poorly. Its pretty simple really. As LX pointed out, the guy seems to be a but less of a "tenacious" player and more of a cerebral player. Thats not all that great in a game as fast as NBA basketball. I have never really had time for people that claim he's a stupid player, or shitty, or any of that, Bargnani is extremely talented. He could use some serious conditioning IMO, as anyone in the NBa who isn't a conditioned freak should be ashamed, and he could use some intensity overall. After that, WTF dude is a talented guy....

There has always been SO MANY shitty things happening in Toronto, how can you point at one and place a great deal of blame on it. Bargnani used to play with Bosh.... ugh.

Bargs can guard quite well man to man due to his height and speed. However, he can not and should not be relied upon at a help defender. I am thankful we have Val now and if the only thing he does this season is provide help side defence then it is a win.
