bargnani out up to 2 months

so, according to espn:

Quote:

The Toronto Raptors will be without Andrea Bargnani for an extended period of time after he tore a ligament in his right elbow and strained his right wrist, reports the National Post.

According to the newspaper, a medical source said those injuries normally mean a player will need a month to two months to fully recover.
so bye bye trading bargnani this season, at least we'll get a chance to asses how our team can do without him and if the problems can be fixed now.

jeffb 12-13-2012 12:51 PM

Well, trading him will have to wait 'til closer to deadline day or next summer :sigh:

Trade Calderon with another piece and se what we could get.

TORaptor4Ever 12-13-2012 12:51 PM

He might be back by the trade deadline... which would suit us just fine.

Bargn88 12-13-2012 12:52 PM

He tore a ligament falling down on his elbow? I mean I guess it was a pretty nasty fall, but it didn't look that bad...

Tough break...

The tank is officially on, need a top 3 pick. SF Andrew Wiggins would look good.

carp 12-13-2012 12:52 PM

Now we have a shot to do what SA did when they got Duncan.... sick!!! Outhouse to Penthouse baby!!!

doubt it, because he'll be back out of shape and it's a hand injury, so his shooting will be impacted. He'll probably suck big time for a while, which won't help his cause.

Don Vito 12-13-2012 01:00 PM

This is a fucking disaster.

Well in that case it's probably fitting that BC will get to see his prodigal son suck rocks for the rest of the season until he's let go.

At least we'll know what he have in Ed Davis by season's end.

There is not one thing that could have gone any worse this season.

We already know, a very good but undersized PF.

FLO 12-13-2012 01:10 PM

Wow!

Well, this is absolutely terrible. He'll be a Raptor until his contract runs out, I guess. Our only hope is for Ed Davis to step up and take the starting role away for good.

In any case, I wish the best for him and hope he heals and returns from injury with a new perspective on the game. This was obviously a serious injury he suffered and we shouldn't ever be happy for a player to be injured.

Yeah, we now can't move and have to keep him for the next 2.5 seasons. Get off the ledge people.

6'10, 232? In this age of PF's I think he's sized right tbh.

Does anyone have the average weight of a PF in the NBA?

Wikipedia

In the NBA power forwards usually range from 6' 8" (2.06 m) to 7' (2.13 m) and 240 to 260 pounds (110 to 120 kg) or more. Despite the averages, a variety of players fit "tweener" roles which finds them in the small forward and/or center position depending upon matchups and coaching decisions. Some "natural" power forwards often play the center position and have the skills but lack the height that is associated with that position
He's light for a PF, I think just visually seeing him on the court and you can see he's undersized weight wise - certainly seems strong enough so far.

ZanTheMan 12-13-2012 01:34 PM

This is by far the worst thing that could happen.

His value was at an alltime low already. We wouldn't have gotten anything good for him anyway...
Now Ed and Jonas will get the majority of minutes in the frontcourt, which is great.
And we can, sigh, really get the tank in motion.

So yeah, I think this will help the team. We'll look totally different immediately (but probably still suck) The defence will look better, and hopefully more intensity on the court.

BballWatcher 12-13-2012 01:42 PM

What are the lottery protections on our draft pick this coming year? We traded away our pick for Kyle Lowry if I remember correctly, but I think it was lottery protected (up to a certain draft position).

This could turn out very well or catastrophically for us.

ZanTheMan 12-13-2012 01:44 PM

The more I think about it the more I like this.
We'll really suck offensively though... This might be a good time to sign CDR on the cheap.

#1-3 protected

OKC gets 4-14 pick

#15 and beyond we keep it.
