Coupled with Calderon's expiring it does, but still. I'd rather get something in return for Jose and Bargs and amnesty Amir.

Kleiza becomes a 4.5Mil expiring contract this summer which doesn't give us much extra capspace and he could probably be dealt as part of a larger trade. Amir on the other hand has 3yrs/21nil left on his contract

I'm gonna be honest,I'm happy because it means more playing time for Davis/Valanciunas/Amir and maybe Acy but I was really looking forward to seeing what the Raptors could've brought back in the event of a trade including Bargnani(which looked inevitable). I feel now, even if he comes back before the trade deadline,Toronto will be stuck with him because my guess is the rest of the league will look at him as somewhat of damaged goods and only offer garbage for him, unless he comes back and goes on a hot streak. Also, potential tading partners or players Raptors may be targeting could be unavailable since him being injured.

If we get the #1 pick in the draft, will we trade it? Who the fuck wants Cody Zeller? Just our luck... we'll get the #1 pick in the shittiest draft in NBA history.

Either trade the pick or we're stuck with this guy. FML

unless we are guaranteed to get someone great in FA, there is no need to amnesty amir, dude wants to be here and is a solid first big off the bench

also, you still have to pay him that money, so unless you have a definitive target in free agency that will clearly improve your team, it makes no sense to do it and I highly doubt MLSE would go for it anyway.

let's face it, our only hope to be good soon was for andrea to play really well, if that doesn't happen, this team has no chance to make the playoffs, even if you bring a good SF. Remember, the idea was to have lowry and Bargnani to play really well AND to add a good SF in order to become a decent team. If you lose bargnani, especially for nothing, you have to go in rebuilding again, so there's no point in amnestying anybody.
I don't agree with that. The team struggled without him on offense and the Raps lose. With him, the team seemed to struggle more due to his inefficient offense and below average to average defense and the Raps lose. With Bargs or without him the Raps lose so time to move on imo (and thats a really disappointing thing for me to say). Has anyone noticed how flat his shot looks? Line drives of the ball instead of a soft touch? Just.....odd.

An inconsistent stretch four with so-so defense, but all the potential in the world, will give you a potential 6th man but not a franchise player or even a 2nd option. Shitty, that chokes me, if only he could balance his game better with some more post play.

You act like we're signing someone to a max contract or something. So when hell freezes over we'll amnesty Amir.

+1.
Kleiza make more sense, because he is a prone injury since he is here. But maybe we can trade him in a package with barg or jose. I say maybe.

now, if we keep ED and JV as our starter, Amir and gray are fine as our backup PF/C.

we really need a SF, at least a solid defender whom can shoot the 3. oh wait, we have anderson whom come back friday, and pirtrus who are currently here.
Maybe we will be fine with our 2 actual SF, if they can bring together 18-20ppg and 10-12 Rpg.

but lowry need to shake his head a little and stop being a first class "I'm the new boss..." because to be the boss he need to win games, and for know he don't do that.

So barg out, BC and Co will have time to make him relax, and they will make him take his time to come back. wait for a draft night trade !

I'm not debating whether we're better with or without, my point is that before the season, the general consensus was that for this team to have even a shot at the playoffs, we'd need Bargnani to play like the previous season and lowry to be a beast. There wasn't much disagreement on that point.

If you take away Bargnani completely, without no returns, the talent level on this team is just not good enough. We may be a better team than .200 without Bargnani, but we're definitely not a .500 team or even close.

So losing Bargnani for nothing would pretty much doom the chances of this core and we should wait until the new players (JV/Davis/Ross) develop into quality starters.

That's why it makes 0 sense to amnesty anybody, we won't be needing that cap space, or at least we shouldn't be using it until we have more talent on this team, however long it takes.

Is it legal to trade injured players in the NBA?

I don't really think this will effect Bargs' value too much if it's only 4-8 weeks.

If a team wanted him, they probably still will.

this is so discouraging. i come here daily hoping to read that 1) Bargs has been traded 2) jose has been traded 3) bc has been fired and 4) casey has a breakdown and blows-up the rock.

this will just prolong the process and make the season that much more disgusting
